Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Location

The Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant has been around for less than five years, and I’ve made a habit of staying here at least once every winter when I go skiing at the Mont-Tremblant resort. It’s just a 10-km, 10-minute drive from the pedestrian village at the base of Tremblant‘s south-facing slope.

The hotel is part of a future small shopping center which, for the moment, is still waiting for its first tenants. The commercial offer within walking distance of the hotel should therefore only improve over the next few years.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Arrival and welcome

On the eve of a snowstorm, in the middle of January, the hotel was almost deserted when I arrived at around 5pm. The receptionist tells me that I have Wyndham Rewards Gold status, which allows me to choose a bag of chips and a treat from the small « convenience corner » at the front desk. I must admit I was a little surprised because :

  1. I had prepaid my reservation with Expedia (not the Wyndham chain’s).
  2. I don’t have any Wyndham Rewards accounts with Gold status (to my knowledge).

Anyway, I appreciated the gesture and the recognition of the so-called « Gold » status. When I checked in at reception, I also mentioned how much I loved staying here every winter.

I took the opportunity to ask if a room on a higher level was available, because after all, the parking lot had no more than ten cars. I was offered a studio suite with a king-size bed and kitchenette at no extra charge. One surprise does not wait for another.

I also note that Coca-Cola fountain products are offered free of charge from 4 to 7 p.m. every day in the area usually reserved for lunch. In other words, it’s a kind of « 4 à 7 Coke ».

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Room

All rooms, even « standard » rooms, include mini-refrigerators, microwaves, coffeemakers, desks and ironing accessories.

The images below are from the studio suite #220 assigned to me.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the room. The layout was functional. There was plenty of space. The bed was comfortable (the pillows too!) and everything was as clean as a whistle.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Breakfast

Review : Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant | Wyndham Rewards - Crédit David-09

A free continental breakfast is served every morning. An announcement in the elevator announces busy periods for lunch. There’s always the option of bringing your breakfast directly to your room if the dining room is too busy.

I liked the quality of the breakfast. A special mention for the muffins, which were very large and very good. Even though the hotel was almost unoccupied, the food on offer at breakfast had not been curtailed. On the contrary, it was abundant and diverse, even for a hotel of this category.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Services and amenities

Families with young children are sure to appreciate the heated indoor pool with waterslide. A four-season outdoor hot tub is also available, and seemed popular with adults, even during snowstorms. It’s almost become the norm for a hotel in the Tremblant region to offer a heated outdoor spa that’s accessible in winter. Microtel is no exception to the rule!

As for skiers, they’ll love the laundry facilities for drying their ski clothes.

A small fitness room is available.

Wifi and parking are free.

The parking has a charging station for electric vehicles.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant – Book with points

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant is part of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. At this establishment, it usually costs 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points to get one night free.

Unfortunately, no credit card in Canada allows you to accelerate the points accumulation process directly in the Wyndham Rewards program. The traditional (and slower) way is to earn points by staying at one of the chain’s hotels.

Keep an eye out for Wyndham promotions, though: in the past, I’ve been able to rack up the points equivalent of a free night very quickly, with just a two-night stay at one of the chain’s hotels.

There is also an alternative way with certain credit cards to get a free night in a hotel of this chain: you have to rely on using generic reservation portals linked to certain credit cards, which allow you to use their points to pay for the travel expense in full or in part.

Here are two ways you can redeem points for a free room at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant using two of these credit cards.

First method: use the points on your TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card.

The TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card earns TD Rewards points. You can redeem these points through the Expedia booking portal for TD.

Every 200 TD Rewards points reduces the cost of travel by $1. For example, if your room at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant costs $200, you can redeem 40,000 TD Rewards points for free, via a $200 credit to your credit card account.

Bottom Line

The Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mont Tremblant is officially a two-and-a-half star hotel, but taking into account the cleanliness of the premises, the courteous service of the staff, the general atmosphere and the modern infrastructure, it comes close to a three-star rating in my opinion.

In winter, by staying here rather than directly in the village at the bottom of the slopes, you’ll almost certainly save the equivalent of a day’s ski ticket at Tremblant. For me, an avid skier, all the criteria are in place to come back the next time there’s a snowstorm.

Fun fact: if they’re paying attention, fans of the popular TV series « Outlander » will notice a special detail right in front of the hotel that’s sure to make them smile!
