Booking at Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai

The Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai is a category 5 hotel and is part of the Marriott Bonvoy chain.

To book my stay, I could have either used 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night (low season rate), a certificate for one free night, or paid $109 per night.

I chose this second option: during COVID-19, the hotel rates are low, so it doesn’t make sense to burn points. Of course using my Marriott Bonvoy^™ American Express^® Card to earn 5 points per dollar.

Location

The Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai is located in the « Trade Centre », a hub which includes the financial district (DIFC) located a few minutes away from the hotel by taxi.

The hotel is ideally located in relation to the airport, as I got there in less than 15 minutes on the day I left Dubai.

Around the hotel

The location of the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai is very interesting (although you can’t do much without a taxi).

Within walking distance, a few very good restaurants and a Carrefour Market.

You’ll be spoilt for choice. In about 10 minutes, you can reach the public beaches of La Mer, the Etihad Museum, Al Seef, Al Fahidi, or you can also go to the Dubai Frame and Dubai Garden Glow right next door (possible with a short walk).

Of course the Dubai Mall is nearby for those who wish to shop. The City Walk with The Green Planet is also a nice walk.

Lobby of the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai

Upon my arrival at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai, as in every hotel, a valet greeted me warmly and took care of my luggage right away. The hotel lobby isn’t as big as the 3 previous hotels I’ve stayed in.

However, it is very pleasant, bright and inviting, with its coffee at the entrance and its large velvet sofas. The interior decoration is original. The hall is lit by 3 chandeliers in the shape of large golden balls. The lounge is delimited by a grass hedge and there is a water fountain towards the elevators.

Namely, the hotel received an award with its Green Key certification, the leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable operations in the tourism industry.

This implies that the hotel has made significant efforts to reduce its energy and water expenditure, to reduce its waste and to improve the quality of the indoor environment. We can therefore understand the link with interior design.

At the entrance, there’s a first counter for concierge requests. The staff also checks your temperature with a thermal scanner. Then, there are three wooden reception counters, topped with glass walls. The white marble gives a feeling of brightness.

The coffee bar has an original structure made of wood, mixed with Arabic motifs called Mashrabiya, and a material which looks like steel and which goes up intricately to the ceiling.

The café offers take-out meals. Several small lounge areas are available in the hall. Near the bay window, in front of the café, or in the raised part of the hall. There’s no shortage of choices. There is also a central community table, where you can use computers.

Finally, there is a booking office for activities and a souvenir shop.

I made my way to my Suite and passed by the beautiful fountain.

My Suite at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai

Lounge

When I entered my Suite, I found a wardrobe with integrated lighting. There’s also a safe in there. Next, the coffee and tea station with a Nespresso machine and a teapot. Opposite this piece of furniture is a toilet.

The living room is big, comfortable. It includes a large corner sofa with a coffee table, a chest of drawers with a wall-mounted TV, a corner armchair, and a round table with two chairs.

As I was alone, I didn’t take much advantage of the living room; however I really liked the layout of this Suite with its cream and purple touches.

Bedroom

You can choose to keep the sliding doors open or not. This bedroom is styled similarly to the living room, is soft, classic shades.

On the desk, an anti-COVID-19 kit.

I was disappointed that the office chair was still not the right height for me to sit and work on my computer. So I sat on the chair next to the coffee table, not having found an easily accessible electrical outlet in the living room.

On each side of the bed, there is a wall outlet and a digital switch to control the lighting in the Suite as well as a reading light.

On one side of the bed is a telephone with a Bose clock radio.

To the right of the front door, a corridor gives access to a dressing room and drawers to store my things.

The bathroom

There are two entrances to the bathroom. Either through the dressing room or the bedroom. The bathroom includes a shower and a closed toilet.

There is a deep bathtub and a double basin cabinet.

A member of the staff came shortly after my arrival and brought me my welcome gift:

I liked my Suite, I found it well set up and comfortable. Its decoration did seem very recent, but ages well on the whole.

The Breakfast Room – Feast

This continental buffet reminded me of the one at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai with its different stations.

There was something for everyone.

Because of COVID-19, it is difficult to show you all the dishes, since I wasn’t allowed to lift the lids myself. Here is a nice overview of the stations:

The Sheraton Club Lounge

The lounge is reserved for Marriott Bonvoy members with Platinum or Titanium status, or when the room you book comes with access to the Lounge.

This one’s worth it! The food served was delicious and the service, professional. No buffet here, but table service. A closed office with two computers and printers is also available. You can go in there without needing to book.

The pool

The swimming pool is located on the 54th floor and offers a view of Dubai’s financial disctrict. You can have a drink there. A paddling pool is available for children!

The fitness room

I quickly entered the room but as it was crowded, I didn’t take any pictures thinking I would come back. It has a view on the outside and is brightly lit. Many machines are present, it’s a very nice room to work out in.

My overall impression of the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai

The Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai is a very nice hotel ideally located as it is only 10 minutes away from many activities. It is very suitable for families and business travellers.

The staff is very courteous and warm. I was greeted at the Sheraton Lounge Club by my name. I really enjoyed my experience at this hotel.

In order to benefit from the best rates, it is best to use the Marriott Bonvoy program. You will also benefit from multiple advantages such as free breakfasts or a welcome gift by having a status.

The hotel is located less than fifteen minutes from the airport which can cost about 28 AED by taxi. The subway station is also 10 minutes walk away (World Trade Centre).

On-site parking and valet service is also available.

Pets are not allowed in the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai.
