How to book with Civitatis

I did a first test of the platform during my visit to Paris last November. I wanted to see what kind of activities were offered there, so I started my search by inserting “Paris” in the search bar, to get to the destination page.

From this page, you can filter according to several criteria such as the type of product (tickets, tours, excursions, shows, etc.), date, price, duration and other characteristics.

I then chose the activity that interested me, in this case it was the “Seine River Cruise”.

On the activity page, you can find the full description of the activity, get more information and read customer reviews. Since the reviews were mostly positive, I proceeded with the reservation by choosing the date and time of the visit.

Tip: Be sure to check the “Cancellations” section to see if you can cancel or modify your reservation. For this activity, the reservation was non-refundable, cancelable or changeable.

Once the date and time have been chosen, we enter the reservation process.

After completing the Personal details section, you will be taken to the payment page. Here you can choose which currency to pay with.

To avoid foreign currency conversion fees, which often amount to 2.5%, I chose to pay with my Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card. So I simply looked up the exchange rate of the day for each currency to see which price was better between the U.S. dollar, the euro and the British pound.

By paying with this card, I can then use my Scene+ points to get a credit on the account at the ratio of 1,000 points = $10 since it is a travel expense.

Once the payment was completed, I arrived on the confirmation page.

I then received the email confirmation with the barcode that allowed me to get my access to the boat for the cruise later. Everything went as advertised on the product page.

Bottom Line

My first activity with Civitatis was very positive. The experience was exactly as described and all the information I needed had been provided. The audio guide during the visit was available in French, which is normal since I was in Paris.

I would advise you to check in which language the experience you choose will be offered before booking as this can vary from country to country.

In the end, Civitatis is a trusted tourism platform that allows you to choose your destination experiences based on verified customer reviews at a great price. For example, I would have paid 18 euros without a reservation when I went to the Seine River Cruise. So I saved 1.50 euros by booking in advance on the Civitatis website or app.

Marie-Ève
Travelling is a way of life for Marie-Ève, who spends almost six months a year abroad. She's always looking for waves to surf, great coffee and the best strategies to travel longer. You'll probably find her in a coworking space with other digital nomads, or by the sea watching the sunsets.
