Aeroplan Redemption Days: discounts on hotels and cars until August 2

To the point From July 27 to August 2, 2026, Aeroplan offers a 10,000 points discount on hotels (code RDHOTEL26) and a 15,000 points discount on car rentals (code RDAUTO26), for redemptions of 50,000 points or more.

From July 27 to August 2, 2026, Aeroplan is launching its Redemption Days: two promotional codes that reduce the number of points required for your hotel and car rental redemptions. The discount reaches 10,000 points on a hotel stay and 15,000 points on a car rental. Be aware, however, that the window is short and ends on August 2.

These Aeroplan Redemption Days target non-flight redemptions, a category often less advantageous in terms of points. Does the discount really change the game? Here are the two codes, the exact conditions, and our opinion on the real value of this promotion.

Two codes, two discounts

The mechanism is straightforward. You apply one of the two codes at the payment stage, on the Aeroplan travel portal. Each code deducts a fixed number of points from your redemption, provided the minimum threshold is met.

Redemption TypePromotional CodeDiscountMinimum Threshold
HotelRDHOTEL2610,000 points50,000 points
Car RentalRDAUTO2615,000 points50,000 points

The 50,000 points threshold is evaluated before the code is applied. In other words, your booking must initially cost at least 50,000 points for the discount to activate. Furthermore, you must hold all the required points in your account at the time of booking, as the discount is applied at payment and not as a post-redemption rebate.

How to use the codes

Any Aeroplan member in good standing can use these codes at the payment stage on the Aeroplan travel portal. Moreover, there is no limit to the number of uses during the offer period. You can therefore book several distinct hotels or car rentals.

  • One code per booking: you cannot combine RDHOTEL26 and RDAUTO26 on the same redemption
  • No usage limit: book multiple distinct stays or rentals during the offer period
  • Discount at payment: the number of points deducted appears at the confirmation stage, not as a later rebate

Combination with the 4th night free

Good news for eligible Aeroplan credit cardholders: the hotel code can be combined with the 4th night free benefit. However, the free night applies first, then the 10,000 points discount is added to the remaining balance. This combination can make a real difference on a stay of four nights or more.

Is it a good deal?

Here’s the important nuance. Non-flight redemptions, such as hotels and car rentals on the Aeroplan portal, generally offer lower value than award flights. At Milesopedia, we estimate that an Aeroplan point is worth 1.5 to 3 Canadian cents on a flight, but often much less on a hotel redemption.

The discount slightly improves the equation, without overturning it. Before rushing in, do the math: divide the dollar price of the hotel or rental by the number of points required after the discount. If you get at least 1.5 cents per point, the redemption is defensible. Below that, save your points for an award flight, where they are worth more.

Which cards give Aeroplan points?

To earn Aeroplan points and enjoy benefits like the 4th night free, several co-branded cards exist from American Express, TD, and CIBC. The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card is among the most accessible for earning points and taking advantage of the 4th night free. The American Express Aeroplan Prestige Card targets frequent travelers but requires a higher eligible income. Our take on Redemption Days

This promotion remains secondary compared to award flights, but it has its place. If you were already planning a hotel or car rental redemption with points, codes RDHOTEL26 and RDAUTO26 reduce the cost effortlessly. The combination with the 4th night free increases the appeal for Aeroplan cardholders.

However, don’t let the August 2 deadline rush you. A discount on poor value is still poor value. Do the calculation per point, then decide. To follow upcoming Aeroplan promotions and our points analyses, subscribe to our newsletter.
