Air Canada: New baggage tracking function in the mobile application

To the point On domestic flights, Air Canada customers can now track their baggage via the airline's mobile application.

On Friday, Air Canada introduced this new function in its mobile application. Travelers will get real-time information on their items, giving them peace of mind,” said Tom Stevens, Air Canada’s Vice President, Customer Experience and Operations Strategy, in a press release.

With regard to mobility aids, Air Canada also mentioned that customers will also be able to track their journey.

Users of the mobile application will be able to :

  • track their goods from check-in to check-out;
  • to know where to pick up their luggage;
  • be informed in the event of baggage delays.

Here is an example of baggage tracking on a trip between Montreal and Fort Lauderdale, with a stopover in Toronto:

For transborder flights, the baggage tracking function will soon be available.

The Air Canada mobile application – available from the Apple App Store or Google Play – enables travel bookings and real-time flight status notifications.

Air Canada also offers other digital services to its customers. Here are some of them:

  • Air Canada and Aeroplan are beta-testing a new feature that allows reservations paid with Aeroplan points to be modified online;
  • Air Canada has launched a beta version of its meal pre-order program, which will be offered on certain flights ;
  • Members with Aeroplan Elite status can select Préférence seats on Air Canada flights at no extra charge;
  • Air Canada passengers can watch Disney+ productions in the air, as well as listen to audio stories with the Audible service.
