Walmart stores offer the rewards program Walmart, associated with its two credit cards, the Walmart Mastercard and Walmart World Mastercard.
These cards have no annual fee.
To qualify for the Walmart World Mastercard credit card, you must:
- Be a Walmart Mastercard member and have spent $15,000 or more in the last 12 months,
- or have an annual family income of $100,000 or more.
Once received, activate your card by calling 1-888-779-2977 and start to earn Walmart Rewards dollars.
You can use these cards at Walmart stores and anywhere else Mastercard is accepted.

With either cards, it is possible to accumulate on all your purchases:
- 1.25% at Walmart,
- 1% to 1.25% at all gas stations,
- 1% everywhere else.
Walmart World Mastercard gives 3% back on online purchases at Walmart.ca
Finally, a $25 bonus in Walmart Reward Dollars is awarded :
- $15 when signing up for one of the two credit cards,
- $10 for e-statement registration.
$1 Walmart Rewards equals $1 to spend at Walmart.
Redeeming points
You use your rewards like cash when you shop at Walmart.
When you insert the card into the terminal, you will see the « Redeem Walmart Rewards Dollars » option in the left column.
You then indicate how many dollars, in $5 increments, you want to trade.
The status
There is no Walmart Rewards status. However, the Walmart World Mastercard offers many benefits, such as a 3% return on online purchases at Walmart.ca and insurance.

Every Walmart Mastercard Reward dollar is worth one Canadian dollar. Exchanges must be made in $5 increments.
How do I redeem Walmart Rewards Mastercard dollars?
Redemption happens directly in dollars, with no points conversion: every Walmart Reward Dollar equals $1 Canadian. You need a minimum balance of $5 to make a first redemption, and further redemptions are made in $5 increments (a balance of $4.45, for example, would not be eligible). At checkout in store or in the Walmart app, select the option « use my Rewards » and choose the amount to apply to your bill. Reward Dollars cannot be redeemed for cash back, products outside Walmart or gift cards: they are strictly used to pay at Walmart Canada, in store or online at walmart.ca.
Does the Walmart Mastercard have annual fees?
No, the Walmart Rewards Mastercard has no annual fee, which is one of its main strengths. It offers 1.25% in Walmart Rewards in store and on walmart.ca, 1.25% at Petro-Canada, and 1% on everything else. With no fee to pay, it can work as a complementary card for regular Walmart shoppers, but the 1% return outside Walmart is low compared with the best cashback cards on the market that often offer 2% or more on groceries and transit.
What are the benefits of the Walmart+ subscription?
Walmart+ is a paid subscription available in Canada that grants several perks: unlimited free home delivery on eligible online orders (no minimum purchase), early access to selected promotions, and gas discounts at some partner stations. The subscription costs roughly $12.99/month or $99/year. To be worthwhile, you need to order regularly online and take advantage of fast delivery: if you place fewer than 8 to 10 orders per year, paying for individual deliveries on a per-order basis usually remains more cost-effective.
