Blue Rewards partners: where to earn points

Blue Rewards partners: where to earn points
Share

Blue Rewards partners are the backbone of the program: this is where you earn the most points per dollar spent. The network inherits the 400+ brands that participated in AIR MILES, with BMO adding new names since the June 2, 2026 launch.

This page lists the banners where you can earn points, the applicable rate based on your card, and the caps to watch. For how the program works overall, see our complete Blue Rewards guide.

Here are the confirmed banners for the points accelerator, grouped by category. In addition, these partners accept your membership card at checkout.

This list also includes participating grocery retailers and warehouse clubs already present in the former AIR MILES network. BMO announced the partnership with Dollarama on June 16, 2026, two weeks after launch.

BMO also confirmed the addition of several Accor Group brands to the 10x accelerator: Fairmont, Sofitel, Novotel, Raffles, and Emblems Collection are now participating across Canada.

Announced partners still to come

BMO has also confirmed the arrival of several major groups. However, their rollout will take place over time, so it is worth checking that they are active before relying on them.

  • Air travel: Porter Airlines
  • Delivery: Instacart
  • Restaurants: MTY Group, including Thai Express, Bâton Rouge, Pizza Delight, Allô! mon Coco, Sushi Shop, Mr. Sub, Manchu Wok, Mucho Burrito, and Jugo Juice

How many points per dollar

The rate depends on the card you present. BMO markets this benefit as “10x the points,” but the actual multiplier varies by card.

The annual cap to watch

BMO changed this cap in August 2026. Previously calculated per statement cycle, it now works per calendar year. This change works in your favour if your partner spending varies from month to month.

In practical terms, you earn at the boosted rate up to $15,000 in net purchases per calendar year with a standard card, and up to $25,000 with a World EliteMD*. Beyond that threshold, only the card’s base rate applies for the rest of the year.

With a personal World EliteMD*, hitting the cap represents 250,000 points, or about $1,667 in redemption value. The counter resets on January 1.

Double earning at checkout

At a partner, a single transaction can earn you twice. First, you present your Blue Rewards membership card and the merchant credits its own points. Then, you pay with your Blue Rewards credit card and earn the card’s rate.

BMO calls this “double dipping.” In other words, forgetting your membership card at checkout is like leaving half the points on the table, so it may be worth adding it to your mobile wallet.

Groceries and gas: the rule

Some partners also fall under a boosted card category. Irving Oil sells gas, and several participating retailers are grocery stores. A precedence rule then applies.

In that case, the purchase earns at the partner rate, not the category rate. So you receive 5 or 10 points per dollar depending on your card, not the category multiplier, which remains lower. This rule benefits you in almost all situations.

Shell has left the network

Shell Canada is no longer part of the program. The chain stopped earning on March 2, 2026 in Alberta, then on May 25, 2026 in the rest of the country. Since then, Shell has been exclusively part of the Scene+ program.

This departure leaves Irving Oil as the only identified gas partner, and only in Atlantic Canada. For gas elsewhere in the country, your Blue Rewards card therefore earns at the category rate rather than the partner rate.

Which card to choose

The decision comes down to how much you spend with partners. If you spend little in this network, the no-annual-fee card is sufficient. By contrast, the World EliteMD* doubles the rate and increases the cap by $10,000.

To compare these cards with the rest of the Canadian market, see our best credit cards page. You will also find cards from other loyalty programs.

Our verdict on the network

The Blue Rewards network remains strong in pharmacies, pet stores, and hardware. However, it has a real weakness in gas since Shell’s departure, and several strong banners remain regional.

Moving the cap to an annual calculation is the most tangible improvement of 2026. It finally makes it possible to concentrate large one-off expenses, such as a car rental or a hardware purchase, without losing the boosted rate.

The partner list can change without notice. To keep up with these updates, subscribe to our newsletter.

Frequently Asked Questions about partners

Here are frequently asked questions in the Milesopedia community about Blue Rewards partners.

How many Blue Rewards partners are there?

The network includes more than 400 participating brands, inherited from the former AIR MILES program. Among them, a smaller list provides access to the boosted partner rate: Pharmasave, Global Pet Foods, Budget, Alamo, National Car Rental, TIMBER MART, KENT, Irving Oil, Pitou Minou & Compagnons, Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, Dollarama, Blue Rewards Travel, and a selection of Accor Group hotels (Fairmont, Sofitel, Novotel, Raffles, Emblems Collection). See our Blue Rewards program page for the full picture.

Does Shell still accept Blue Rewards?

No. Shell Canada left the network on March 2, 2026 in Alberta and on May 25, 2026 in the rest of Canada. The chain now participates in the Scene+ program only. You can therefore no longer earn or redeem Blue points at Shell.

Is Costco a Blue Rewards partner?

Participating warehouse clubs are part of the network inherited from AIR MILES, but BMO does not name Costco among the accelerator partners. Also note that Costco Canada accepts only Mastercard in-store, which makes your Blue Rewards cards usable at checkout.

What is the points cap at partners?

Since August 2026, the cap is calculated per calendar year: $15,000 in net purchases on standard cards, and $25,000 on World EliteMD* cards. Previously, BMO applied a cap per statement cycle. Beyond the threshold, your purchases earn at the card’s base rate until the following January 1.

Can I earn twice on the same purchase?

Yes, and it is the network’s main appeal. Present your membership card at checkout to receive the partner’s points, then pay with your Blue Rewards credit card to earn the card’s rate. Both credits add up on the same transaction.

What happens if a partner is also a grocery store?

The purchase earns at the partner rate, not the category rate. This precedence rule benefits you, since the partner rate exceeds the category multiplier. The same principle applies to a partner gas station such as Irving Oil.

How much are points earned at partners worth?

BMO’s official formula sets 1,500 Blue Rewards points at $10, which is approximately 0.67¢ per point for in-store redemptions or e-gift cards. A $100 purchase at a partner with a World Elite®* card therefore earns 1,000 points, or nearly $6.70 in value. We detail the value by redemption method on our page regarding the value of Blue Rewards points.

The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

  • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
  • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.
