Moreover, these ideas are built with the following criterias:

• Total cost of stay of 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or less
• Standard room
• Reservation can be cancelled without charge

In all the examples below, taxes are included.

150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points can be earned by two people.

For example, each person subscribes to the Marriott BonvoyTM American Express^MD Card. It offers 50,000 points by charging $1,500 in purchases to the card within the first three months of membership.

This will result in just over 100,000 points.

In addition, this card gives you one free night stay per year at annual renewal, worth 35,000 points or less.

Then, to meet the 50,000 point requirement, one of those two people can sign up for the Marriott Bonvoy^® Business American Express^® Card*. Note that this business version of the card can be subscribed to even by an individual.

Stay in Canada with 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or less

There are some great options for holiday travel in Canada!

Tremblant

To celebrate New Year’s Day in Tremblant, use 123,000 points for 2 nights at the Residence Inn Mont Tremblant Manoir Labelle. They will save you $1,994 and you will have breakfast included for all.

On December 31, take the torchlight descent and celebrate the end of 2022 at Saint-Bernard Square. Dance like nobody is watching until midnight, when fireworks light up the sky and the mountain.

Staying in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of the best places in Canada to celebrate the New Year.

The 3 most popular hotels are :

• Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa
• Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls

The Sheraton Fallsview Hotel is directly connected to the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. It is available for 120,000 points during the holidays for 2 nights.

While for the Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel & Spa, 109,000 Marriott Bonvoy points save you $1,318.

See Niagara Falls and enjoy the free Winter Festival of Lights. The Fallsview Indoor Waterpark makes you feel almost like you’re in a warmer locations.

Staying in Vancouver

With any luck, there will be little or no snow in Vancouver this holiday season.

Staying in the US with 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or less

If you are travelling to our southern neighbours, there are great possibilities. Moreover, it is advantageous to pay in points, while avoiding the exchange rate.

Stay in Orlando, Florida

First, a 5-day getaway to the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center is available for 149,000 points ($3,250 CAD value). There is an additional resort fee of $30 US, but the room includesaccess to the wonderful Water Park and shuttles to Disney.

To be close to the Disney Parks, you can spend 6 nights at the TownePlace Suites Orlando Theme Parks/Lake Buena Vista. Breakfast is included as well as free shuttles to Disney Parks and Universal Studios, kids have a hi-tech playroom, the hotel has no resort fees.

150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points saves you $2,725 CAD.

To stretch the points the longest, you can stay in Florida for 13 days for free, during the holidays! That’s $2,535 in savings.

TownePlace Suites Tampa North/I-75 Fletcher has a full kitchen and offers free breakfast. The hotel is one hour from Disney Parks and Clearwater Beach and minutes from Busch Gardens.

Staying in Las Vegas

The JW Marriott hotel chain is known for being expensive, both in points and dollars. They are classified in the luxury category of Marriott Bonvoy.

Is it possible to stay for 5 nights in a JW Marriott and still meet our criteria? At the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa, yes, it is possible!

For 149,000 points, play golf and lounge in the huge pool with waterfalls. With nights under 35,000 points during the holiday season, you can even top off your stay with a free night certificate.

However, there is a resort fee of US$39 per night, which includes parking and a US$10 hotel credit.

Staying in New York City

Spending New Year’s Day in New York is an experience in itself. But it’s very expensive!

Staying at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park or The St. Regis New York requires 120,000 points per night.

To say goodbye to 2022 and welcome 2023 in a dazzling way, we can celebrate the end of the year with a room with a butler at our service. Those 120,000 points save $2,635 CAD.

To make the fun last, there are other options for staying longer in New York City.

The vast majority of Marriott Bonvoy hotels located in Manhattan are 60,000 points per night. With the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue, you get away with 120,000 points for 2 nights, instead of paying about $2,335 CAD.

As of early January 2023, The Westin Jersey City Newport is available for 102,400 points throughPointsSavers. This is valid for 5 nights, including one free night. Perfect for visiting Carlo’s Bakery, located about 2 kilometers from the hotel.

International stay with 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points or less

Stay in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, Mexico

With 150,000 points, you can relax for 6 nights at the Residence Inn Playa Del Carmen. Breakfast is free for all. This saves $1,955 CAD.

Another option is to spend 3 nights at the Renaissance Cancun Resort & Marina, for 120,000 points. This has a value of $2,365 CAD.

Stay in Curaçao

Two Marriott Bonvoy hotels are located there:

• Renaissance Wind Creek Curaçao Resort
• Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort

For about 40,000 points per night for each hotel during the holiday season, this is a good option. Especially since each night costs about $650 CAD!

Since these rooms only have a partial or garden view, you can negotiate an upgrade for a better view with a few tricks.

Stay in Costa Rica

For the longest stay in San Jose, the Residence Inn San Jose Escazu is excellent. With 138,600 points, you will be able to enjoy Costa Rica for 11 nights, thanks to the points and breakfast is included for all. This is a great value to save $2,400 CAD.

For a more luxurious stay by the sea, 140,00 points allows you to spend from December 29 to December 31, 2022 at W Costa Rica Reserva Conchal. That’s a $4,800 value!

Stay in Madrid, Spain

To stretch the pleasure in Madrid, there is AC Hotel La Finca. You can spend 15 nights there this holiday season for 141,500 points! A value of $3,145.

The disadvantage is that the hotel is a bit far from the city center. However, downtown can be reached in 40 minutes by public transport.

In order to be close to the city center, the AC Hotel Atocha charges 147,000 points for a room for 7 nights. While paid in cash, it would have cost $1,780 CAD for this stay.

Bottom line

These costs and points were valid when the article was written. They may therefore fluctuate over time.

After making a reservation in points, check the number of points required in the following weeks for the same period. If the number of points decreases, take the opportunity to modify your reservation to your advantage.
