EVA Air connects Canada with Taiwan and onward destinations across Asia. Compare the complete itinerary, each segment’s cabin and baggage before choosing a ticket. An Aeroplan award and a cash ticket bought from EVA follow different booking rules.
This guide was checked on October 29, 2026. Schedules, aircraft, fare conditions and award availability can change.
Canada to Taipei
EVA’s Canadian offers include Toronto–Taipei and Vancouver–Taipei. Other Canadian cities also appear with connections; appearing in the sales engine does not establish a nonstop EVA-operated service.
Check the departure airport, operating airline and total journey time. For travel beyond Taipei, examine the connection and onward cabin. A separate positioning ticket to Toronto or Vancouver may require another check-in and different arrangements if a delay disrupts your trip.
Royal Laurel, Premium Economy and Economy
Royal Laurel Class offers fully flat seats on the relevant Boeing 777-300ER and 787 aircraft. EVA describes reverse herringbone seating on the 777; its 787 product differs. Check the actual seat map instead of relying only on the Business label.
Premium Economy is a separate cabin where offered. Do not assume it continues on a regional connection. Check every segment for mixed-cabin itineraries.
Our Toronto–Taipei EVA Boeing 777 review describes a 2017 experience. It illustrates the journey but does not establish today’s aircraft amenities or ticket conditions.
Baggage depends on the fare family
EVA’s official allowance distinguishes long-haul fares to Canada. Economy Discount (A) includes one 23 kg bag; Basic, Standard and Up list two 23 kg bags. Premium Economy lists two 23 kg bags and Royal Laurel two 32 kg bags, subject to the table’s conditions.
Other airlines, separate tickets or a stopover can change the applicable allowance. Read what your ticket states. EVA also notes that an EVABidDeal upgrade does not automatically add free checked baggage.
Lounges and Taipei connections
EVA describes lounge access for eligible Royal Laurel, Premium Laurel and Business travellers. Check the specific lounge, opening hours and departing flight conditions. A Premium Economy seat or credit card alone does not confirm access.
For a long connection, consider arrival time, boarding time and services actually available. Compare our ANA guide and Japan Airlines guide for your final destination as well.
Aeroplan and Infinity MileageLands awards
EVA is a Star Alliance member. Search Aeroplan for EVA seats available to Aeroplan partners. Cash availability on EVA does not guarantee partner award availability. Check party size and all segment cabins before transferring points.
Infinity MileageLands is EVA’s own program. It uses a separate balance and award rules. Compare the points, taxes and fees charged by the issuing program. Our Aeroplan guide explains the Canadian option.
Canadian cards to compare
Cobalt: transfer to Aeroplan
The American Express Cobalt® Card earns Membership Rewards. The Canadian Amex directory lists Aeroplan as a transfer partner. Check the displayed ratio and processing time.
This funds Aeroplan, not Infinity MileageLands. Find a bookable EVA award first, then compare card fees and spending requirements with your normal budget.
TD Aeroplan: earn directly
The TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card earns Aeroplan points directly. They can fund an available EVA award. Card benefits restricted to Air Canada flights do not automatically apply to EVA.

Buying a points top-up
After finding an award, compare an Aeroplan points purchase, taxes and fees with the cash ticket. Milesopedia may receive a commission through this partner link.
Buying points does not hold the seat while your balance arrives. Check cancellation terms and points expiry before topping up. Get program changes through the Milesopedia newsletter.
