Check-In with BermudAir

Unfortunately, I was not able to check in online on the BermudAir website when departing from Bermuda Airport. Once the check-in counter opened in the morning, I was able to proceed with the agent as usual. It’s important to know that the airport does not open its doors before 6 a.m., and security only opens at 6:45 a.m. No need to arrive too early at the airport!

Baggage on BermudAir

BermudAir allows one personal item and one carry-on bag weighing up to 10 kg (22 lbs), and the carry-on is weighed if you go through the check-in counter. It is therefore important to respect the weight limit. It is also possible to pay to check a bag between $35 and $65, depending on your ticket category.

Access to the Primeclass Lounge

With the BermudAir Business Class ticket, access to the Primeclass lounge is included. However, it opens only 45 minutes before the BermudAir flight departure, which leaves little time to enjoy it. The space is, however, very well laid out with tables, sofas, and couches, and can accommodate up to 89 passengers. The buffet offers bagels, fruit, yogurt, granola, hard-boiled eggs, and cereal, in addition to a full coffee machine and hot water for tea.

It’s not the most impressive lounge buffet, but given the early hour, it provides everything you need to fill up before your flight. The boarding gates are very close; so you can wait until the last minute before leaving it. Also available on-site are restrooms and showers. If you hold Priority Pass, Lounge Key, Lounge Pass, Dragon Pass, or LoungeBuddy passes, you also have access to the lounge.

Cabin and Seat – Embraer E175 Business Class

First of all, the Embraer aircraft is not the newest, but the cabin was very clean. The Business Class cabin configuration on BermudAir is 2-2 on either side of the aisle, with 88 seats on the plane, 12 of which are in Business Class.

It’s not really a traditional Business Class, as the flight is very short, but rather a front section separated by a curtain after takeoff. However, with this seat, you get a nice colourful BermudAir bag.

However, there is no beverage service during takeoff. My seat: 2D with the best view during takeoff. Each seat, covered in faux leather, is equipped with a tray table and a storage pocket; there is no screen. The headrest is slightly adjustable, and legroom is above average. Note that the seats do not recline, and there is no footrest. There are also no power outlets to charge devices.

Business Class Meals

Since the flight was quite early in the morning, and especially very short, there was little offered to eat. On board, breakfast includes two pastries, a juice or alcoholic beverage (mimosas included!), as well as tea or coffee. It’s perfect for satisfying your hunger on this flight of just over two hours.

On-Board Service

The flight attendants offered excellent service with a smile, and often came to check if I needed anything. Automatic announcements are made in English and French, but it was easier to communicate with the crew in English.

In-Flight Entertainment on BermudAir

Aboard BermudAir’s Embraer E175, an online entertainment system is offered with a selection of movies, series, and music to listen to. Simply connect using the QR code available on a leaflet in the seat pocket or go directly to the indicated URL. Several options are offered (over 60 hours of content) to the extent that I didn’t really have time to watch a full movie during the trip. There appears to be Wi-Fi service on board, but it was not functional during my flight.

Bottom Line

I really enjoyed my experience aboard BermudAir. First of all, the short flight duration almost makes you want to go to Bermuda every weekend! Then, the excellent service, the fact that the flight was not full (so everyone had plenty of space on board), and the early morning departure meant we arrived in Montreal before noon. The plane might have been a bit outdated, but honestly, for the duration of the trip, it’s an option I highly recommend for getting to Bermuda on a direct flight.
