RBC Avion and WestJet: 20% CT Money Transfer Bonus

RBC Avion Rewards is offering a 20% bonus on converting your points to CT Money at Canadian Tire until August 31, 2026. Here’s what that bonus is actually worth in real dollars, and when you should keep your points for a flight instead.

What’s Changing

The regular conversion rate between Avion points and Triangle Rewards’ CT Money is fixed: 140 Avion points get you $1.00 in CT Money. Until August 31, 2026, RBC is boosting that rate by 20%, which raises the value of that same 140-point block to $1.20 in CT Money.

Three conditions apply:

You must be a Triangle Rewards member and hold an eligible RBC Avion card, with both accounts linked.
The minimum conversion stays at 140 Avion points, with further increments allowed beyond that.
A maximum of 25,000 Avion points can be converted per 24-hour period.

The conversion is instant, but final and irreversible: once converted to CT Money, your points can’t be moved back into your Avion account, and the CT Money you receive follows Triangle Rewards’ usual rules from that point on.

12 You will earn 1.25 Avion points for every dollar spent when you use your RBC Avion Visa Infinite card to pay for travel-related purchases made at merchants classified by Visa’s “Merchant Category Code” (“MCC”) as “travel”, which may include: airlines, accommodations, tour operators, cruise lines, travel agencies and car rental companies. Even though some merchants may sell travel products/services, purchases made at these locations may not necessarily qualify for the 1.25 Avion points per dollar if the merchant is not classified with a “travel” MCC. 14 The term “redeem” means using your Be Well points to pay, or partially pay, for eligible purchases using your Be Well card at participating Rexall locations according to the instructions provided by the cashier, the point-of-sale terminal or any other payment processing device. You can redeem the Be Well points you earn for eligible purchases—see section 5 of the Be Well terms (available at https://www.letsbewell.ca/terms-conditions)—or for another purpose that we may provide from time to time.

You must have joined the Be Well program and registered your Be Well card, or otherwise called customer service, to redeem Be Well points. Any Be Well points earned on a Be Well card will remain the property of the Be Well administrator until the enrollment and registration process is complete.

What the Bonus Is Actually Worth, in Dollars

Without the bonus, each Avion point converted to CT Money is worth about 0.71 cents. With the 20% bonus, that value rises to about 0.86 cents per point, a marginal gain of roughly 0.14 cents per point.

For comparison, our estimate of Avion points’ value sits around 1.5 cents per point on average, and can climb to 2 cents on the fixed travel chart for a well-chosen flight. Converting to CT Money, even with the bonus, stays well below that value: 10,000 converted points bring in $85.71, versus $150 to $200 for the same number of points used on a flight.

The WestJet Bonus: A Better Deal, But Much Shorter

A second CT Money transfer bonus appeared this week on the WestJet Rewards side. The regular rate is 120 WestJet points for $1.00 in CT Money, a return of about 0.83 cents per point. Until August 22, 2026 only, WestJet is boosting that rate by 20%, which brings the return to 100 points for $1.00, or 1 cent per point.

Two conditions apply:

Your Triangle Rewards and WestJet Rewards accounts must already be linked.
The minimum conversion stays at 2,400 WestJet points, or $24.00 in CT Money with the bonus.

Point for point, the WestJet bonus pays out more than the Avion bonus (1 cent versus 0.86 cents per point), but its window is much shorter: two days versus eleven for the Avion bonus. Since Avion and WestJet points transfer at a 1-to-1 rate, converting Avion points to WestJet points before turning them into CT Money would improve the value, provided the Avion-to-WestJet transfer completes in time, which Rewards Canada was unable to confirm at the time of writing.

You will receive up to 30,000 welcome WestJet points upon your first purchase (“Welcome WestJet Points”) distributed as follows: (i) 25, 000 Welcome WestJet Points up to six (6) weeks after your first purchase transaction date; and (ii) 5,000 Welcome WestJet Points up to twelve (12) weeks after your first purchase transaction date, provided your first purchase gets posted to your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card account (“Credit Card Account”) within the first three (3) months of your Credit Card Account opening date (“Period”).

You will receive an additional 30,000 WestJet points (“Additional WestJet Points”) provided a total of $5,000 (“Qualifying Transaction Amount”) or more in qualifying net purchases and/or pre-authorized bill payment transactions (“Qualifying Transaction(s)”) are posted to your Credit Card Account within the Period. The Additional WestJet Points will be awarded approximately six (6) weeks after the date you reach the Qualifying Transaction Amount. Qualifying Transactions exclude cash advances (including balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees, and credits for returns and adjustments posted to your Credit Card Account during the Period will reduce the amount of your Qualifying Transactions.

The transaction posting date of each Qualifying Transaction, not the transaction date, will determine whether the transaction will count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount. This means that Qualifying Transactions that take place prior to the last day of the Period will not count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount if they have not yet been posted or processed by the merchant, the payment network (Mastercard) or Royal Bank by the last day of the Period.

You will receive an additional 10,000 WestJet points (“Anniversary WestJet Points”) up to sixteen (16) weeks after your Credit Card Account has been open for one (1) year.

Welcome WestJet Points, Additional WestJet Points and Anniversary WestJet Points will be awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, accessible at westjet.com/account, and appear on your monthly credit card statement, provided your Credit Card Account is open and in good standing at the time they are awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, “good standing” meaning that your Credit Card Account must not be past due for more than two (2) consecutive Credit Card Account statement periods, closed, charged off or in credit revoked status at that time.

Only the primary cardholder on the Credit Card Account is eligible for this offer. Additional cardholders(s) (co-applicant and authorized user(s)), as well as existing cardholders on any RBC Royal Bank personal credit card account, transferring to a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard during the Offer Period, are not eligible for this offer.

If you close your Credit Card Account or change it for another type of RBC Royal Bank credit card before the Welcome WestJet points, Additional Welcome WestJet points or the Anniversary WestJet points have been awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, you may not receive the points. This offer may not be combined or used in conjunction with any other offer.
