The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel is a category 5 Marriott Bonvoy hotel. A night paid for with points can go for between 30,000 and 40,000 points depending on the season.
In normal times, you could use the free night certificate offered by the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card (or the small business version, the Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card).
I preferred to keep my points and pay for my stay with my Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card given the rate I got.
Get Marriott Bonvoy points

In addition to the great welcome bonus on both cards, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on all purchases and 5 points per dollar at Marriott locations.
And each year, you’ll earn a free hotel night certificate (35,000 point value) as well as 15 Elite nights towards your Marriott Bonvoy status.
Alternatively, you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points with American Express Membership Rewards credit cards. You can transfer Membership Rewards points into Marriott Bonvoy points at a rate of 5:6 (50,000 Membership Rewards points = 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points).

Lobby
Having visited the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic, strict sanitation measures were in place. This started right from the lobby with body temperature control and supervised entries/exits.
In the reception area, there are computers and printers.
Suite
For this stay with a friend, the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite, thanks to my Titanium Marriott Bonvoy status. Our suite is located on the level of the Club lounge, unfortunately closed.
This suite is particularly suitable for families as it can comfortably accommodate 8 people (thanks to the sofa bed in the lounge).
It is also possible to work comfortably on this desk which is equipped with a printer (rather rare in hotel rooms)!
There is also a Keurig coffee machine, a refrigerator and a microwave oven (again, parents will appreciate this). Due to COVID-19, all accessories are given out in hermetically sealed plastic bags.
Room with 1 bed
The first bedroom has a king bed and an en-suite bathroom (with shower).
Room with 2 beds
The second bedroom has 2 queen size beds and an en-suite bathroom (with bathtub).
Gym and pool
The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel has a large gym as well as a connected pool.
At the time of our visit, the pool had limited access and I was therefore unable to take photos. Here’s what it looks like according to the hotel’s website:
Restaurants
Breakfast
Platinum and Titanium members receive complimentary breakfast at the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel’s restaurant: Flower & Wolf.
The restaurant is made up of several rooms with modern decoration. Service is done at the table (instead of the usual buffet).
You can choose anything you want from the menu:
The plates are copious (we chose the Eggs Benedict and the Omelette).
Dinner
Since the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire hotel lounge (Club Lounge) was closed, the front desk offered us coupons for free admission to the Flower & Wolf restaurant.
Here again, the portions offered are generous!
Surroundings
The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel is perfectly located north of downtown, just blocks from Chinatown and the Bow River in Eau Claire. For the athletic types, you can run along the Bow and in Prince’s Island Park.
And for those who love shopping or family activities, the Eau Claire Market is across the street from the hotel.
Conclusion
The Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel is a great choice if you are staying in Calgary for one or more nights. We particularly recommend it for families because of the suites and the pool with slide.
This hotel was able to adjust to the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic by adapting its services rather than stopping them.
