Nestled just off the north end of Virginia Beach‘s famous boardwalk, it’s part of the Cavalier Resort, which includes the historic hotel of the same name. Its dream setting is equally suited to a romantic getaway, a business meeting, a wedding or an anniversary celebration.

Located just 20 miles from Norfolk International Airport, the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is easily reached by road. Hotel guests can leave their vehicles in the multi-storey car park before checking in. This takes place seamlessly in the magnificent lobby, which features a large green wall and a stylish, contemporary décor, with spacious relaxation areas that are both sophisticated and inviting. To access the upper floors, a card is required to ensure customer safety.

During my stay, I had the pleasure of sleeping in a large 34 m² room with two queen-size beds and a balcony. It opened onto the ocean, allowing me to admire the view at any time of day, especially during the blazing sunrises and sunsets. This beautiful space also includes a study area, a comfortable armchair, a large flat-screen TV and all technological conveniences. And let’s not forget the mini-fridge, coffee machine and ironing board.

Neutral tones of beige, gray and white dominate the room, with large paintings evoking the ocean above each bed. This room proved to be very pleasant and restful; the excellent bedding helped us sleep like a log. It’s spacious enough for a couple to move around as they please, and could even accommodate a child.

For breakfast, I was delighted to discover that Tulu Seaside Bar & Grill offers it every morning. This restaurant, located on the first floor of the hotel, offers cuisine based on local ingredients, which can be enjoyed at any time of day, indoors or on its seafront terrace. On the menu for this first morning meal are typical American breakfasts with a choice of cooked eggs and meats, as well as healthy breakfast bowls based on granola and superfoods.

I was able to try both options, from one morning to the next, and each aimed right for the bull’s eye with fresh, quality produce, good seasonings and beautiful presentations. Service is courteous and cheerful, but can be slowed by the morning’s heavy traffic.

For dinner, what could be better than dining 183 feet above the Atlantic Ocean with a view under the stars of Virginia Beach? That’s what Orion’s Roof, the Marriott’s elegant and trendy rooftop restaurant, offers. Specializing in Asian fusion cuisine, its menu features sushi, fish and meat dishes to be enjoyed in this exceptional setting, with a menu that adapts to the seasons and the catch of the day. Impressive, tasty whole fish are served, along with handcrafted cocktails and a variety of sake options. Service is pleasant and fairly fast, even if the restaurant is crowded.

In addition to its 305 modern guest rooms and suites, all with breathtaking ocean views, the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort also boasts a large 24-hour fitness center and outdoor and indoor pools. It also features over 25,000 square feet of event space, including Virginia Beach’s largest ballroom.

With its ideal location, breathtaking ocean views, modern facilities, fine restaurants and contemporary yet refined decor, the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is an exceptional choice for a hotel in the region. The two dining options offer a variety of ambiances, from casual to more chic, catering to the preferences of every traveler. Last but not least, the staff are dedicated to making our stay as pleasant as possible. This was the case for mine, won over by this establishment’s harmonious combination of comfort, style and hospitality.
