As with all tourist destinations, room rates vary by season. They can start from USD 107 per night in low season, and reach up to USD 350 in high season. In terms of points, rates fluctuate between 30,000 and 50,000 points per night, with the highest typically observed in the peak of summer.

Arrival

Location

The Courtyard Lake Placid is located slightly outside the village, on Route 73. This location offers a quieter and less busy setting, ideal for those seeking tranquility, while remaining close to Lake Placid’s main attractions. Although it is not as central as the other Marriott hotel in Lake Placid – the Grand Adirondack, it provides easy access to the village’s restaurants, shops, and activities, while also offering quick access to the magnificent Adirondack landscapes.

Check-in and Reception

Check-in at the Courtyard Lake Placid is seamless thanks to the Marriott app, allowing mobile check-in and direct room access with your phone. Although you can skip it, the front desk, located right at the entrance of the hotel, features a traditional counter and a simple, almost impersonal décor. A quick and straightforward process.

Adjacent to the reception, the traditional Market offers a 24/7 mini-convenience store, practical for those who need snacks or small items at any time of day or night.

Lounge Area

The lounge area at the Courtyard Lake Placid is a real highlight of the hotel. Spacious and bright thanks to high ceilings topped with a mezzanine, the lounge features large windows, including several alcove windows that add an extra touch of charm.

There are various seating options available: sofas, loveseats, armchairs, and ottomans, with plenty of tables and power outlets for travellers who need to stay connected. A large natural gas fireplace adds a warm touch to the atmosphere, while a television lets you keep up with the news or catch sporting events. The décor is simple yet inviting, with tones inspired by autumn leaves such as ochre, rust, caramel, and crème brûlée, creating a pleasant and welcoming environment.

Room

Thanks to our Marriott Bonvoy Titanium status, we were upgraded to a spacious 54 m² suite, providing a true place to relax. The suite is mainly made up of two rooms, each offering its own unique atmosphere.

The living room, for example, is a well-designed, multifunctional space. With a kitchenette counter (microwave, mini-fridge, sink), a sofa bed, an armchair, and a work desk, it’s perfect for relaxing, getting some work done, or enjoying informal meals. I found this layout very practical, and the abundance of power outlets makes the space even more functional. It’s truly the ideal spot to unwind before or after a busy day.

One detail I really appreciated is the separate vanity and mirror area, which is located between the living room, bedroom, and bathroom. This setup prevents the inconvenience of the mirror being occupied when someone is using the bathroom, making it much more convenient, especially when getting ready while maintaining privacy in the other spaces. It’s a small touch that makes things easier when several people are sharing the suite.

The bedroom, on the other hand, is simple yet pleasant. The large king-size bed is comfortable, and the furniture is well chosen, providing plenty of storage space with a wardrobe and drawers. A window lets in natural light, and the bedside tables complete the practical and pleasant layout of the room. While nothing stands out as extraordinary, the overall space is balanced and functional, which is what I really appreciated.

Another practical feature is the door separating the living room from the bedroom, which helps maintain privacy and personal space if you’re travelling with children, for example. This kind of detail makes a real difference when you’re looking to make the most of your stay, especially for families.

Finally, the suite’s overall decor is simple and balanced, with a mix of understated tones – a grey-green carpet that adds a soft touch to the floor, pale yellow walls that brighten the space, and dark brown wooden furniture providing a stronger contrast. Frames depicting autumn leaves add a touch of character without being too intrusive.

In summary, the suite is functional, well-sized, and very comfortable. We were charmed by this thoughtful layout and truly enjoyed our stay in this space.

Restaurants

The Bistro

The Bistro at Courtyard Lake Placid offers a convenient on-site dining option, featuring a selection of simple dishes such as avocado toast, omelettes, burgers, and salads. Bien qu’il soit fonctionnel et propose du café Starbucks, il n’apporte pas vraiment une touche locale ou montagnarde que l’on pourrait attendre dans cette région. The decor is fairly standard and similar to what you’ll find at other Courtyard properties. Personnellement, ce type de restaurant ne correspond pas vraiment à mes goûts, mais il conviendra à ceux qui cherchent une option rapide et pratique pour manger sur place.

Gym

The fitness centre at Courtyard Lake Placid is quite minimalist, equipped with two treadmills, an elliptical machine, free weights, and basic strength training equipment. Personally, I prefer to take advantage of the many outdoor activities available in the area, but I understand that this space could be suitable for those who prefer to work out indoors.

Swimming Pool

The pool at Courtyard Lake Placid is more similar to what you’d find at a southern resort, with limited dimensions that don’t allow for lap swimming. It seems better suited for children to splash around and cool off. In addition, there are two hot tubs adjacent to the pool. N’ayant pas de jeunes enfants, cette piscine n’a pas vraiment suscité notre intérêt.

Parking

One of the advantages of the Courtyard Lake Placid is the availability of free parking, a real asset for visitors arriving by car who wish to enjoy easy and convenient access to the hotel.

Around the Hotel

Courtyard Lake Placid is a bit like a “base camp” for exploring this beautiful region. Just minutes from the hotel, you’ll find a wide range of activities, whether you’re planning a day of skiing at Whiteface Mountain, hiking in the Adirondacks, or enjoying a refreshing swim in Mirror Lake. The hotel is also well located for cycling enthusiasts, with many scenic trails nearby.

Although the hotel is slightly set back from the village center, it remains close to the main attractions, restaurants, and local shops. Lake Placid, with its rich Olympic heritage, also offers unique experiences, such as visiting Olympic sites or trying the ice oval. For me, it’s the perfect place to recharge after a day of adventure in the mountains, while having everything needed within reach for easy and varied exploration.

Overall Impression

Courtyard Lake Placid offers a balance between tranquility and convenience. If you’re looking for a hotel that’s slightly removed from the bustle of downtown but still offers easy access to the area’s main attractions, this property is an excellent option. Personally, I enjoyed the common areas, such as the lounge with its fireplace and cozy window nooks, which provide a pleasant setting to relax. However, this isn’t the hotel to choose if you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience or ultra-luxurious service. It’s more of an ideal spot to enjoy a relaxed, no-frills stay. A perfect starting point for exploring Lake Placid and the surrounding area while staying comfortable.

The suite we stayed in is functional and comfortable, but has a fairly classic style. If you’re looking for modern or cutting-edge design elements, the décor may feel a bit understated. However, the large room size and layout, designed for convenience with a separate living room, workspace, and even a partial kitchen, make it easy to feel at home with just the right amount of comfort. And if you’re travelling with family, being able to separate the living room from the bedroom is a real advantage.

For me, Courtyard Lake Placid offers the convenience and reliability you sometimes look for when travelling: no big surprises, but everything you need for a pleasant stay. It’s a safe choice, especially if you’re focused on outdoor activities and want to experience the authentic side of the Adirondacks.
