The World of Hyatt points purchase promotion

Until October 5, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time), you can get 20% off when you buy World of Hyatt points, or 2.08 US cents per point instead of 2.6 US cents.

The normal annual cap for purchasing points is 55,000 points per account per calendar year. The discount applies from 5,000 points purchased in a single transaction.

So, if you buy the annual cap of 55,000 Hyatt points, you pay US$1,144 instead of the regular price of US$1,430, with no additional bonus points.

Each Hyatt point will then cost you 2.08 US cents.

Canadian sales taxes (depending on your province) apply to this transaction.

Is it worth buying Hyatt points?

The answer to that question is… yes and no.

In Canada, we do not have the benefit of credit cards that allow you to earn World of Hyatt points directly or indirectly (unlike the many credit card options for earning Marriott Bonvoy points).

Therefore, buying Hyatt points can be an interesting option ONLY when you have a very specific goal in mind.

Personally, I value World of Hyatt points at about 2 US cents, even though they can be redeemed for much greater value on some awards.

It is therefore worth targeting places where the points rates are advantageous compared to the cash rate!

Especially since when you use World of Hyatt points to book hotel nights, you do not have to pay taxes or service fees, unlike cash rates!

For example, you can get 12,000 World of Hyatt points for about US$250 with this promotion (US$312 at the regular price).

You could then use them for a night at this splendid hotel in Cambodia, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap.

This hotel is in Category 3 and therefore costs 12,000 points per night.

Its nightly rate is particularly expensive at USD 315/night (+ fees and taxes), with the same cancellation conditions.

So, by getting 12,000 points for about US$250, you could save about US$65 per night (before taxes and fees) at this hotel by buying Hyatt points.

Bottom Line

Buying Hyatt points can therefore be worthwhile for some, whether for a very specific travel goal and/or to top up a World of Hyatt points balance in order to get a free night/free stay.

However, if you are not in one of these situations, we recommend against buying points and suggest choosing other programs such as Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors, for which it is much easier to earn points thanks to credit cards!
