SAS EuroBonus Status Match: Silver, Gold or Diamond from €89 for Aeroplan Elite Members

The SAS EuroBonus status match is open to Canadian travellers: as of October 14, 2026, an elite member of Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards, AAdvantage or Atmos Rewards can get Silver, Gold or Diamond status in Scandinavian Airlines' program, with no flight challenge, for a fee of €89 to €349 (EUR).
SAS itself is only part of the story. Since SAS joined SkyTeam, EuroBonus Gold and Diamond are recognized as SkyTeam Elite Plus on Air France, KLM, Delta and the rest of the alliance. If you hold Aeroplan Elite Status and also fly Air France or KLM, this is a way to carry a second alliance status, lounge access included.
The matched tier is a full EuroBonus status, valid for the rest of your current EuroBonus membership year plus 12 months. You get every benefit of the tier except the membership giveaway, and the period does not count toward lifetime Gold or Diamond.
The main benefits by tier:
Your EuroBonus tier depends on the status you already hold. Aeroplan 50K members get Gold, while 25K and 35K members top out at Silver, which has no SkyTeam lounge access. If you qualify for Diamond, you can pick Gold or Diamond instead, so you can pay less and still get the core SkyTeam perks.
| Program | EuroBonus Silver | EuroBonus Gold | EuroBonus Diamond |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aeroplan (Air Canada) | 25K, 35K | 50K | 75K, Super Elite 100K |
| WestJet Rewards | Silver | Gold | Platinum |
| AAdvantage (American Airlines) | Gold | Platinum | Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum, ConciergeKey |
| Atmos Rewards (Alaska Airlines) | Silver | Gold | Platinum, Titanium |
| United MileagePlus | Premier Silver | Premier Gold | Premier Platinum, Premier 1K, Global Services |
| British Airways Club | Bronze | Silver | Gold, Gold Guest List, Premier |
| Emirates Skywards | Silver | Gold | Platinum |
Fees depend on the tier and include applicable taxes:
Your card is authorized when you apply, but the payment is only processed if you are approved. A denial costs you nothing.
Aeroplan Elite Status gives you Star Alliance recognition. The moment you board Air France, KLM, Delta, Aeroméxico or Virgin Atlantic, that status is worth nothing. With EuroBonus Gold you carry SkyTeam Elite Plus: SkyTeam lounge access, SkyPriority check-in and boarding, and priority baggage handling.
That comes in handy if you book Europe with Flying Blue miles or pay cash on Air France and KLM out of Montréal or Toronto. Gold and Diamond also come with benefits on Singapore Airlines.
At €199 (EUR), Gold is the sweet spot for a Canadian traveller: it is the first tier with SkyTeam Elite Plus and lounge access. If you have one or two round trips to Europe on Air France, KLM or Delta in the next 12 months, lounge access and the extra bags can justify the fee.
Silver does much less: with no lounge, it mostly comes down to one extra bag and priority check-in. As for Diamond, what it adds over Gold mostly applies to SAS flights. At €349 (EUR), it only makes sense if you fly SAS often. To compare with another paid offer, read our take on the Emirates Skywards status match.
If you hold Aeroplan 50K or higher, WestJet Gold or Platinum, or AAdvantage Platinum or higher, apply for Gold now: the offer closes as soon as the quota is filled.
