To the point Flying Blue announces reward pricing changes when using Flying Blue Miles and the launch of an interactive map.

Flying Blue – Reward Pricing Changes

Since 2018, Flying Blue has been using dynamic pricing to book reward flights with Flying Blue miles. The problem with this dynamic pricing was that it was not dynamic enough for tickets that were inexpensive.

From now on, Flying Blue announces that entry pricing will be more attractive, especially for Premium Economy flights worldwide and on business class flights in Europe.

Economy fares are not expected to change much worldwide. The impact will be on long-haul business class fares.

Flying Blue gave several examples:

  • increased pricing in Flying Blue Miles in business class to/from Los Angeles
  • increased pricing in Flying Blue Miles in economy class to/from Dubai
  • decreased pricing in Flying Blue Miles in business class to/from Rio
  • decreased pricing in Flying Blue Miles in economy class to/from New York

On this last point, recently, Flying Blue seemed to be testing, especially on fares between North America and Europe, where we saw unbeatable prices when using Flying Blue Miles. This is expected to continue and is good news for Canadians.

I recently showed this for an adult AND child reward pricing between Montreal and Paris:

Flying Blue Family: 25% Discount on Reward Tickets for Children (ages 2 to 11) - total fr

Flying Blue has provided a reward chart of the “Entry Fare” in Flying Blue Miles (one way), which you can find at this address and of which here are the screenshots:

With the introduction of these fare changes, Flying Blue is launching an interactive map that will give Flying Blue members an idea of the cost in Flying Blue Miles between two destinations depending on the travel cabin.

Bottom Line

As is often the case with changes in a loyalty program, there are good and not so good things. For those who travel primarily in economy class, these changes will be pretty beneficial.

On the other hand, business class may be less accessible, unless you take advantage of the monthly Flying Blue Promo Rewards.
