Overview

Air Transat Staria rewards program logo

Staria is the rewards program of Air Transat and Transat, launched on November 2, 2026. It works in three ways: points you spend on flights and vacation packages, stars you earn by completing missions, and a constellation that pools your points with family and friends.

Joining is free from age 2 on the Staria website. For now, you can only sign up on the Canadian sites of airtransat.com and transat.com. This guide sums up the official rules: earning, redeeming, stars, constellation, expiry and the fine print. To compare other options, see our best credit cards in Canada.

How to join Staria

Go to the Sign up page. Enter your email, confirm it with the validation email, then complete your profile and create a password. Each member needs their own email address, since it is the login ID.

A parent or legal guardian enrols a child aged 2 or older from the member area, in the "Constellation" section, using the "Junior member" option. When the child reaches the age of majority, they take over the account and keep their points. Online sign-up requires a Canadian address; without one, use the program's assistance form.

Multi-factor authentication is mandatory: a temporary code is emailed to you at each login. You then manage your account from the member area sign-in page.

How to earn Staria points

You earn points on flights, Transat vacation packages and options bought in advance. Points are calculated on the amount before taxes and airport fees. Details are on the Earn points page.

Porter Airlines flights also earn Staria points, at the same rates as Air Transat flights. For packages, only those with flights operated by Air Transat qualify. If you pay part of a trip with points, you still earn points on the portion paid in cash. Using a travel credit doesn't stop you from earning either.

Earning rules to remember

  • Be a member before you fly. Add your member number to the booking before departure. It can't be added after the outbound flight.
  • Points go to the traveller, not to whoever pays. Each traveller needs their own account, or must be in the same constellation.
  • Posting time: a few hours after the flight, up to 24 hours for a Porter flight, and up to 30 days if you were rebooked on another carrier.
  • Connections: the eligible amount is split between flights according to distance flown.
  • Options bought in advance only: more than 48 hours before departure for Option Plus, seats and bags, more than 72 hours for meals, and within 48 hours of booking for Option Flex (departure more than 21 days out). Airport purchases don't count.
  • Excluded: upgrades from Economy to Club Class, flights not taken and cancelled bookings.

Future earning partners

For now, you earn only with Air Transat, Transat and on Porter flights. According to Air Transat's November 2, 2026 press release, more partners will be added gradually. No names or dates have been announced yet, apart from the credit cards planned for 2027.

How to use your Staria points

Points pay for part or all of an Air Transat flight, or part of an eligible Transat package. Taxes, airport fees and other charges are always paid in cash. You can only redeem on the Canadian versions of airtransat.com and transat.com. Full details are on the Redeem points page.

Booking takes 4 steps: sign in to your account, pick a destination where all flights are operated by Air Transat, choose your dates, then apply your points at payment. There are no date restrictions: if a seat is for sale, you can pay for it with points.

Points payment options appear once you've selected your full itinerary. Points apply to the whole booking: you can't use points for just one passenger on a multi-person booking. You can, however, book with your points for someone else. For a lap infant, the base fare is free, but taxes may apply.

Changing or cancelling a points booking

Change and cancellation rules are the same as for a cash booking. A fare difference or change fee is payable in cash only. For now, you have to call the Air Transat Contact Centre to change or cancel a booking made with points.

  • Paid partly with points: your points are refunded in full and cancellation fees are taken from the cash refund.
  • Paid 100% with points: cancellation fees are converted into points and deducted from the points refunded.

How much is a Staria point worth?

To come. Air Transat does not yet publish a dollar value for a Staria point, on its Staria pages or in its FAQ. We don't infer one. As soon as Air Transat confirms a rate, we'll add it to this page and to our points and miles valuation.

Meanwhile, compare the cash price of a flight with the number of points asked when you book. Our points or cash calculator helps you run the numbers.

Staria stars and missions

Stars are the second way to benefit from Staria. You earn them by completing missions, between trips or while travelling. As they add up, you unlock reward tiers. Only members 18 or older can earn stars: junior members can't. Details are on the Stars page.

More missions are announced, such as answering a survey, subscribing to the newsletter, referring a friend, using a self-service feature, taking an eligible trip or logging in at least once a month. Some missions are only offered to certain member groups or for a limited time.

Reward tiers

You need 48 stars to unlock your first reward choice. You then pick 1 reward out of 3, applied automatically to your account.

Reward rules

  • You have 30 days to choose an unlocked reward. Otherwise, a default reward is assigned.
  • A confirmed choice can't be changed.
  • A flight reward must be added to a booking within 12 months of being issued.
  • If you change or cancel the flight after applying a reward, the reward is lost.
  • A reward can only be used by the member who earned it.
  • Stars don't expire. They post within 36 hours at most.

The constellation: pooling your points

A constellation brings together you and up to 8 others, 9 members in total, in one shared points balance. The adult member who creates it becomes its manager. The manager invites or removes members, sets their permissions and can hand the role to another adult member. Details are on the Constellation page.

Source: Air Transat
  • When you join a constellation, all your points move into the shared balance. There is no individual balance any more.
  • Points earned by a member land in the shared balance when the trip is complete.
  • The manager sets each member to "earn only" or "earn and redeem".
  • When points are redeemed, they're deducted in proportion to each member's contribution. Official example: 4 members, 20,000 points; one member uses 5,000 points and the balance drops to 15,000 points.
  • You can leave at any time and take back your share, minus points already used. You then have to wait 6 months before creating or joining another constellation.
  • A 2-member constellation is dissolved automatically if one member leaves.

Points expiry and status

Staria points are lost after 36 consecutive months of inactivity. Any eligible activity, such as earning or redeeming points, keeps the account active. An account inactive for 7 consecutive years may be closed and its number reassigned. In a constellation, an account stays active as long as it holds at least 1 point and there is at least one activity in the constellation within 36 months.

Status: Air Transat has not announced any elite status for Staria so far. The official FAQ only covers star tiers. Any status levels are therefore to come. Closing your account is free, but your points are lost, as they are if the member dies.

Know this before you redeem

Missing points

If you meet the conditions and your points still haven't posted 30 days after your trip, fill out the missing points claim form. If you were already a member when you travelled but forgot to add your member number to the booking, you can submit a request within 6 months of the flight. Trips taken before you joined don't earn points.

Staria credit cards

There is no Staria credit card yet. According to Air Transat's November 2, 2026 press release, strategic partners Desjardins and Visa will launch credit cards that earn Staria points in 2027. Details (fees, earn rates, welcome offer) are to come. In the meantime, see our best Desjardins credit cards and the Desjardins BONUSDOLLARS program.

Staria FAQ

How much does Staria cost?

Nothing. Joining is free, and there's no fee to close your account. You sign up online on the Canadian sites of airtransat.com and transat.com.

How old do you have to be to join?

2 or older. A parent or guardian enrols the child from the "Constellation" section of the member area. Stars, however, are reserved for members 18 and over.

How many points does an Air Transat flight earn?

3 points per dollar on Eco Budget, 5 on Eco Standard and Club Standard, and 7 on Eco Flex and Club Flex, before taxes and airport fees. Porter flights earn at the same rates. Packages earn 1 point per dollar and options 5 points per dollar.

Do Porter flights earn Staria points?

Yes. Flights operated by Porter Airlines qualify, at the same rates as Air Transat flights. Points post within 24 hours. To redeem points, though, all flights must be operated by Air Transat.

Can I add my member number after my trip?

No, it must be added before the outbound flight. If you were already a member and forgot to add it, submit a missing points request within 6 months of the flight.

Who gets the points on a booking?

The traveller, no matter who pays. If several of you travel together, each person must be a member, or you can pool your points in a constellation.

Do upgrades earn points?

No. Upgrades from Economy to Club Class don't qualify for now, and neither do options bought at the airport.

Can I pay for a flight entirely with points?

Yes. You choose to cover 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% or 100% of the flight and carrier surcharge. Taxes and airport fees are paid in cash.

Can I pay for a package entirely with points?

No. A package can only be paid partly with points, with a minimum of 10% of the total. Full payment is required at booking: no deposit.

Are there blackout dates?

No. Air Transat applies no date restrictions when you redeem points on a flight.

Can I combine points with a promo code?

No. Points can't be used when a promo code is applied. They also can't be combined with a travel credit or monthly instalments.

Can I insure a flight paid with points?

Cancellation insurance isn't offered when you book a flight with points. For an insured package paid partly with points, only the cash amount is refundable.

What happens if I cancel?

If cancellation is allowed, your points are refunded. On a booking paid 100% with points, cancellation fees are deducted in points: on Club Standard, 5,000 points (domestic and U.S.), 20,000 (South) or 30,000 (Europe, Peru, Brazil and Africa).

Do Staria points expire?

Yes, after 36 consecutive months without activity. Earning or redeeming points keeps your account active. In an active constellation, your account stays active if it holds at least 1 point.

Can I buy or transfer points?

No. Staria doesn't sell points or allow transfers. The only way to combine them is a constellation.

How many people can be in a constellation?

Up to 9 members: you and 8 others. The manager decides who can only earn and who can also redeem points.

Can I leave a constellation?

Yes, at any time. You take back your share based on your contribution, minus points already used, then wait 6 months before joining or creating another one.

How many stars do I need for a reward?

48 stars for the first tier. You then pick 1 reward out of 3: free standard seats, 50% bonus points on a package or 2,000 instant points.

Do stars expire?

No. Rewards do have deadlines, though: 30 days to choose one, then 12 months to use a flight reward.

How much is a Staria point worth?

Air Transat doesn't publish a dollar value yet. We'll add it to this page as soon as it's confirmed.

How do I reach Staria customer service?

By phone at 1-866-815-5194 or 514-940-7907, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, or through the program's assistance form. The full Staria FAQ answers other questions.
