With this offer for the BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard, you receive a 20,000 Blue Rewards points welcome bonus. In addition, you benefit from a 0.99% introductory interest rate on balance transfers for nine months.
With the BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard, you earn 5 points per dollar at participating Blue Rewards partners and 1 point per dollar on groceries, gas, electric vehicle charging, wholesale and alcohol purchases (including Costco). And 0.5 point per dollar on all other purchases. The 5-point rate applies on up to $15,000 in net purchases per calendar year at partners, and the 1-point rate on up to $500 per category, per statement cycle.

The card earns 5 Points per $1 at participating Blue Rewards Partners, 1 Point per $1 on groceries, gas, electric vehicle charging, alcohol and warehouse club purchases, and 0.5 Points per $1 on everything else. You also collect the partner’s own Points at checkout when you show your Blue Rewards membership card, so two streams of Points stack on the same transaction.
Yes. Bonus Points at participating Blue Rewards Partners are earned on up to $15,000 in net purchases per calendar year. Once you reach that maximum, purchases at partners earn only the base rate of 0.5 Points per $1.
This annual cap replaced the previous $500 per statement cycle limit. In practice it is much more generous: the old cap allowed roughly $6,000 of accelerated spending a year, the new one allows $15,000, and you can concentrate it in a single month instead of spreading it out.
Yes, and that cap has not changed. The 1 Point per $1 rate applies to up to $500 in net purchases per Accelerator Spend Category, per statement cycle — alcohol, gas and EV charging, groceries, and warehouse clubs are each counted separately.
One nuance: a purchase made at a Blue Rewards Partner that is also a grocery store or gas station earns the 10x partner rate, not the category rate.
Earn 20,000 Bonus Points when you spend a minimum of $1,500 in net purchases within the first 110 days after account opening. The Points are credited 110 days after the account open date. Applications must be received between June 2 and October 31, 2026.
The offer also includes a 0.99% introductory interest rate on balance transfers for nine months, with a 2% transfer fee. It is not available to current or former Blue Rewards cardholders, nor to BMO cardholders transferring into the product.
BMO’s reference equation is 1,500 Points = $10, or roughly 0.67 cent per Point, when redeemed in store at participating partners or towards eGift cards. Other redemption types are subject to separate rates, so that 0.67 cent figure is the benchmark to compare against, not a guarantee.
