Arrival

Location

The Lexington Hotel Autograph Collection is located in Midtown Manhattan, close to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Broadway. It is well served by public transportation, with several subway stations within walking distance.

Check-In and Lobby

The hotel’s modest yet elegant lobby reflects the Autograph spirit. It combines velvet armchairs, Art Deco artwork and a mezzanine that adds depth. A Moët & Chandon dispenser and a quiet reception area at the back complete the warm, refined atmosphere.

Bedroom

The Lexington Hotel has 12 room types, including 6 special suites.

Thanks to my Bonvoy Titanium membership, I was able to request an upgrade, which I was fortunate enough to obtain, although this type of benefit is not guaranteed and depends on availability as well as the hotel’s discretion. The Arthur Godfrey Suite, which I was assigned, was listed at US$1,235 per night at the time of check-in.

The Arthur Godfrey Suite is named after Arthur Godfrey, an iconic figure in American television and radio in the 1950s and 1960s.

The retro-designed suite pays tribute to Arthur Godfrey and his legacy in television and radio, while also referencing his induction into the Aviation Hall of Fame. It comprises two distinct rooms: the first with a bar, dining area and lounge, ideal for intimate events, and the second with a king-size bed and work desk. Each room has its own bathroom and front door, guaranteeing total privacy.

Located on the 22nd floor, the suite benefits from natural light thanks to its seven windows. Away from the noise of the street, it offers a calm and pleasant atmosphere, amplified by its open space and abundant light.

General Impression of the Room

As soon as I entered the Arthur Godfrey Suite, a feeling of calm and refinement washed over me. The subtle, elegant retro design seemed to transport me back to a time when television and radio reigned supreme, and every element of the decor, from the furniture to the lighting, seemed to pay homage to that golden period. I was struck by the natural light that bathed the space through its seven windows, providing an atmosphere that was both open and intimate. What particularly struck me was the balance between modern comforts and nostalgia for an era I feel I could have touched, feeling its understated luxury and elegant simplicity. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, this suite is a true haven of peace, where every detail, from the furniture to the layout of the rooms, seems to have been thought out to invite me to relax while soaking up the history it represents.

Restaurant

Restaurant The Stayton Room

The Lexington Hotel features an on-site restaurant, The Stayton Room, open for both breakfast and Happy Hour.

As a Bonvoy Titanium member, I had breakfast included (an option available from Bonvoy Platinum level), a saving of around US 29 per person.

Breakfast at the Lexington Hotel was a simple, basic buffet, with no service or à la carte options. Although the hotel is part of the Autograph range, the offering was limited: scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, juice and filter coffee, with no omelettes or specialty coffee. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected a more varied selection and more attentive service.

During Happy Hour, the US 35 destination fee didn’t allow me to take full advantage, as the food and beverage offer was limited and rather expensive (e.g.: cheese platter at US 38). An 18% gratuity was also automatically added, adding to my disappointment.

Other Services

Gym

Although the hotel does not have its own fitness centre, a CRUNCH gym from the chain is located in the Lower Lobby and is accessible to hotel guests. Moreover, as a « Signature Club, » it offers an exceptionally comprehensive experience. This is not just a typical hotel gym but a full-fledged gym from a major chain. For those seeking a complete workout, it’s the ideal place, providing a wide variety of high-quality equipment to meet the expectations of all fitness enthusiasts.

Parking

The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but valet parking is available at a cost of US$80 per day. What’s more, when booking, lunch and/or parking combo options are available, offering greater flexibility and alternatives.

Around the Hotel

Thanks to the superb location of The Lexington Hotel NYC, I was able to take full advantage of Manhattan with my wife during my stay. Just a few steps away, I visited Rockefeller Center, where I had the chance to admire its magnificent Christmas tree. I also strolled through Times Square and Central Park, and even visited the American Museum of Natural History, a real immersion in science and history. I took advantage of the winter season to take a trip to the Bryant Park ice rink, which is free and perfect for a pleasant break. On the entertainment front, I attended a Broadway play, this time Moulin Rouge, which I loved, as much for its musical references as for the talent of the performers. Finally, the Christmas window displays in the department stores allowed me to soak up the enchanting atmosphere of the New York season.

Overall Impression

If you’re looking for an elegant stay in Manhattan, this hotel is an excellent option. However, be sure to adjust your service expectations.

Indeed, my 2-night stay at The Lexington Hotel was a mix of good moments and disappointments. The location, perfectly situated in the heart of Manhattan, provides easy access to major attractions. The Arthur Godfrey Suite, with its elegant retro vibe, particularly impressed me with its brightness and intimate atmosphere. However, some services fell short, such as the basic breakfast without service and the Happy Hour with a limited selection and high prices. On the other hand, the CRUNCH fitness centre was a definite highlight. Overall, the hotel is pleasant, but improvements are needed to fully align with its expected standard.
