At the time of our stay, the Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa had rates starting around $239 USD per night, depending on the room type. It is also possible to book with Hilton Honors points, at 40,000 points per night, which is an attractive option for a resort in this category.

Thanks to my Hilton Honors Gold status, we received an upgrade to a higher-category room with a balcony and a view of the Nile—a real plus at this property.

Location and arrival at the hotel

The Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa is located on the east bank of the Nile, about a 15-minute drive from Luxor International Airport, making it a convenient option for a short stay or a well-structured stopover. The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon are reachable in about 30 minutes, typically via private transfer or a guided tour.

Despite this proximity to major attractions, the property offers a surprisingly calm environment, set back from the tourist bustle. Its direct location on the banks of the Nile creates a peaceful atmosphere, enhanced by unobstructed views of the river and the desert mountains in the background.

Arrival and Check-in

From the moment you arrive, the tone is set: calm, smooth flow, and attentive service. The hotel immediately stands out for its airy, terraced architecture, with a strong contemporary Egyptian inspiration. The whole place is very open and bright, and feels more like a seaside resort than a classic city hotel.

Deluxe room: terrace on the Nile

The Deluxe room we were upgraded to fits perfectly with the resort’s spirit: a comfortable, uncluttered space designed to slow the pace. Without being particularly large, it offers enough space to feel at ease, with a comfortable king bed, a functional desk, and a small area set up with a round table—ideal for tea at the end of the day. It is more about well-executed simplicity than standout design.

The real highlight is elsewhere: the private terrace. Furnished with two chairs and a table, it offers an intimate, peaceful space with a direct view of the Nile. It is a place where you naturally take the time to pause, in the late afternoon as well as in the evening, with the river’s changing light as a backdrop. Higher-category rooms are also located in a separate wing from the main building, which reinforces the sense of tranquility.

Restaurants and Dining

The dining offer is varied and well integrated into the stay experience, with several restaurants that let you switch things up without leaving the resort. Breakfast, served in the main restaurant, is complete and well executed. It can be enjoyed indoors or on the terrace, with an unobstructed view of the Nile—an option we quickly favored.

In the late afternoon, the Sunset Bar becomes a natural gathering point. Thanks to Hilton Honors Gold status, we enjoyed a 5 à 7-style moment with drinks and small bites. Without being elaborate, the offering is pleasant and perfectly positioned to accompany the sunsets over the Nile, which quickly become a stay ritual.

The hotel also offers several restaurants, including Rosetta, Olives, and Silk Road, with different atmospheres and types of cuisine. Room service also proved efficient and of good quality—an option that makes sense after long days of sightseeing. Finally, note that despite Ramadan during our stay, food options remained available during the day for non-Muslims.

Services and Facilities

The main pool, located on the banks of the Nile, is clearly one of the resort’s gathering points. It is surrounded by many well-placed loungers to enjoy the view, as well as long sofas and shaded areas. The atmosphere is pleasant and lively without feeling overcrowded, with the ever-present Nile as the backdrop.

Spa: a haven of peace

Away from the lively pool area, the spa offers a completely different experience. Open from 10 AM to 9 PM, the space is large and well laid out, with a sauna, Turkish baths, foot baths, and several relaxation areas, both indoors and outdoors. Important detail: the spa areas are mostly gender-segregated, with separate sections for men and women. The only exception is the infinity pool on the banks of the Nile, which remains accessible to everyone—and it is noticeably less busy than the main pool, almost discreet.

In the same spirit of facilities set apart, the fitness room is also located away from the main areas. More modest at first glance, it remains well equipped for an effective workout—an option that makes sense for maintaining a routine.

Around the hotel: Luxor

The Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa is not a hotel in the heart of a lively neighborhood, but rather a comfortable, structured base for discovering Luxor. Most travel is done by car, via a private guide or organized transport. In this context, the location becomes an advantage: you avoid the immediate bustle while staying within a reasonable distance of the major sites.

The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon are reachable in about 30 minutes, making it easy to plan half-day visits. Our ideal rhythm: leave early in the morning to explore, then return to the hotel mid-day to enjoy the facilities. Luxor is not a destination you explore on foot like a European city, and having a calm, pleasant hotel to return to makes all the difference.

The Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa is an excellent surprise in a hotel market that is relatively limited in major international chains. The property strikes a solid balance between comfort, quality facilities, and tranquility, while remaining perfectly functional for discovering a destination as dense as Luxor.

It is not a spectacular hotel in every respect, but it stands out for the consistency of its experience: a soothing environment, attentive service, and facilities that meet the needs of a stay that blends sightseeing and rest. After a week of intensive diving, it was exactly the type of hotel we were looking for.

A true haven of peace on the banks of the Nile, perfect for combining intensive sightseeing with rest in a luxurious setting. A strategic choice, both for comfort and for structuring your stay in Luxor.
