An affordable hotel with Marriott Bonvoy points
The Courtyard Boston Downtown hotel is a Category 5 (September 2019).
This means it costs 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to make a night.

Depending on the period (and the public price), this hotel is a “good candidate” to use the annual one-night free certificate (maximum value of 35,000 points) offered at the renewal of the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card or the self-employed version: Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card
To earn Marriott Bonvoy points in Canada, the easiest way is via one of these 3 credit cards:
- The Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card
- The Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card
- The American Express Cobalt™ Card
Each one offers a nice welcome bonus and the ability to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on each of your purchases.
You could have both Marriott Bonvoy cards and collect your points in your Marriott Bonvoy account!
The American Express Cobalt™ Card allows you to transfer your Marriott Bonvoy membership rewards to 1:1.2.

This means that the 5 points-privilege accumulated per dollar of purchases in certain categories:
- grocery stores
- restaurants and bars
- convenience stores
- delivery of food at home
… allow you to get the equivalent of 6 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar of purchases!
Our review of the Courtyard Boston Downtown Hotel

We chose to stay in the Courtyard Boston Downtown Hotel for 2 aspects:
- its ideal location to discover Boston on foot
- its cost (during our stay the room cost about $150, so we didn’t use any points)
Location
Courtyard Boston Downtown hotel is conveniently located close to the Boston Public Garden and the Theater District.
His address: 275 Tremont Street Boston, Massachusetts 02116 – United States
Arrival
When we checked in around 11pm, we were able to quickly retrieve our room card thanks to the early check-in from the mobile app.
With Titanium Elite status, we are offered a credit for food in the establishment: US$ 10 per person, or US$ 20.
Also, after taking advice from the front desk for things to see (we explained to them that we were only in Boston for a short day), the receptionist decided to offer us breakfasts (“she loves Canadian travellers” ) !
That’s a beautiful gesture.
In the lobby, there is a relaxing room:
And the bar (with the breakfast room at the back):
We head to our room, 1137, located on the 11th floor.
The bedroom
Our bedroom has 2 double beds.
More pictures of the bedroom…
… and a view of Boston!
The bathroom
The bathroom is equipped with a shower. We are surprised not to see any products (shampoo, shower…).
This hotel no longer has small containers and has switched to large reusable containers. Except that this one was obviously carried away by previous travelers!
Room service will bring us more.
Restaurant and bar
At the lobby level is the hotel’s restaurant and bar.
This is where we had our breakfast.
Here are pictures of this buffet, quite decent:
It is possible to have omelets on demand.
For 2 people, count 40 US$. The front desk offered it to us, it’s very appreciated!
Conclusion
Courtyard Boston Downtown hotel is not a luxurious hotel, but functional and perfectly located.
It is ideal if you want to walk around the city!
For a longer stay, however, we would tend to prefer more comfortable hotels (especially for families) such as the Residence Inn Boston Harbor on Tudor Wharf ,also a Category 5 hotel.
