The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

  • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
  • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Check-in

When I arrived, the agent at reception kindly explained everything I needed to know about the hotel.

I didn’t really get an upgrade, but my room was on the upper floors.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Rooms

The room was typical, with a king-size bed, corner armchair, work desk, desk with drawer and flat-screen TV.

At the entrance was a wardrobe and a buffet-style cabinet with coffee pot and ice bucket. There was also a mini-refrigerator.

Review : Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista | Marriott Bonvoy - Delta Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista-05

The bathroom was small, with shower, vanity with sink and toilet.

The view from the room overlooked the hotel’s large swimming pool. The aquatic mural made you forget the boulevard and the adjacent commercial building.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Restaurants

D-Flats is a bar-restaurant open from 4pm to 11pm. Its menu is basic, but can be satisfying for someone who doesn’t want to break the bank.

Review : Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista | Marriott Bonvoy - Delta Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista-23

Peet’s Coffee is open from 7 am to 11 am. It offers mainly omelettes, pancakes and breakfast sandwiches at acceptable prices.

For breakfast, another easy option is Community Table. It’s a buffet open between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., with everything you need to start your day in a theme park.

It costs :

  • USD 14.95 per adult and 13 years and over

  • Free for children under 5 with an adult

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Other services

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Swimming pool

In the beautifully landscaped courtyard, the pool is large, with a few tents for protection from the sun. A small spa is also available.

Everything is open between 7am and 10pm.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Lounge

Elite Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members have access to a lounge at Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista. It is located on the 2nd floor and is open 24 hours a day.

In fact, this lounge is unlike any other at MarriottBonvoy. It’s more like a Delta Elite Pantry.

Review : Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista | Marriott Bonvoy - Delta Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista-11

There’s no place to sit and the space is pretty basic with quick snacks, some fruit, instant oatmeal packets, packaged pastries, toaster bagels, yogurt, drinks (water, milk, soft drinks), ice cream cups andpopsicles.

The member can therefore take what he wants and eat it outside or in his room.

While this « lounge » is a good convenience store, the execution would be much better if that pantry were stocked more regularly and the coffee maker wasn’t broken.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Gym

The fitness room is small, with a mirror in the back to make the room seem larger.

She has a few machines and weights.

Review : Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista | Marriott Bonvoy - Delta Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista-38

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Laundry facilities

A guest laundry room is available.

The washer costs USD 1.50 and the dryer USD 2. Laundry soap and fabric softener sheets can be purchased from the vending machine at a cost of 1.25 USD.

Everything works with American quarters only, and you can change the change at reception.

There’s a convenience store next to reception, for a snack or to buy personal items.

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Comptoir Disney

As a Good Neighbor Hotel, Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista has a Disney counter. They help you plan your vacation in the parks, book your tickets and take reservations for the free shuttles to the parks.

It is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. You must reserve a shuttle at the counter at least 30 minutes in advance, then be at the stop 5 to 10 minutes before the shuttle departs.

Here is the shuttle departure schedule from the hotel:

  • 9.50 a.m. to Epcot
  • 10:50 a.m. to Disney Hollywood Studios

And the one for the return:

  • 7:15 p.m. from Disney Hollywood Studios to the hotel
  • 9 p.m. from Epcot to hotel

If you want to go to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, you have to go to Disney Hollywood Studios or Epcot, then take the monorail or bus between the parks.

Then, for $5 per person, shuttles are available from the hotel to Universal Studios and Seaworld.

  • 10:15 a.m. to Universal Studios and SeaWorld
  • Return to hotel at 6:00 p.m. (Universal Studios) or 6:30 p.m. (SeaWorld)

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista – My overall impression

Delta Hotels Orlando Lake Buena Vista is a decent and affordable accommodation, very close to Disney Springs and with quick access to the Disney parks.

It does offer some good options, but they are limited (such as the minimal shuttle offer) or for the « lounge/dining area » (which is often bare). So don’t expect too much.
