Cathay Pacific is offering a 10% bonus on the points you convert to Asia Miles, from July 27 to August 28, 2026. The offer is for Canadian members who transfer RBC Avion Rewards points, American Express Membership Rewards points, or points from hotel programs. One condition applies, however: you must register before making your first conversion.
This Asia Miles conversion bonus remains modest. However, it comes at a good time if you are planning an award flight with Cathay Pacific or a oneworld partner. Here are the exact ratios, the cap, the exclusion to know about, and our Review on whether it makes sense to transfer your points now.
The concept is simple: each points conversion to Asia Miles receives 10% extra miles. According to the terms published by Cathay Pacific, eligible partners in Canada include RBC Avion, American Express Membership Rewards, and several hotel programs. Here are the base ratios and the result with the bonus.
Watch out for one exception: according to Cathay Pacific, Marriott Bonvoy participates in transfers, but at the usual ratio only. In other words, conversions from Bonvoy are not eligible for the 10% bonus.
The bonus is also capped at 10,000 miles per member. Specifically, with RBC Avion points converted 1:1, you reach this cap after about 100,000 points transferred. Beyond that, your conversions continue at the normal ratio, with no extra miles.
As with most transfer bonuses, registration is everything. Only conversions initiated after you register are eligible for the bonus. Go to Cathay Pacific’s promotional page, sign in to your Asia Miles account, then submit your membership number, name, and email.
This is the most important point for a large part of our readership: this promotion is not offered to Quebec residents. This restriction is common with Cathay Pacific offers, due to Quebec rules governing contests and promotions.
My personal rule is the same for every transfer bonus: I never transfer speculatively. A transfer to Asia Miles is one-way. Once your RBC Avion or Amex points are gone, there is no going back. So I only transfer when I have already found a specific award seat to book.
That said, Asia Miles can offer excellent value if you target the right routes. The program shines in particular on Cathay Pacific business-class flights to Asia, as well as on certain oneworld partners like Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways. In addition, fuel surcharges remain reasonable on several of these routes from Canada.
In other words, this 10% bonus is worth it if you are topping up the balance for an award you have already identified. On the other hand, it does not justify draining your RBC Avion or Amex accounts without a clear travel plan.
To fund your conversions to Asia Miles, two families of cards stand out in Canada. First, RBC Avion cards earn Avion points, which transfer 1:1 to Asia Miles. Next, American Express Membership Rewards cards, such as the American Express Platinum Card and the American Express Cobalt Card, earn transferable points at a 1,000:750 ratio.

A 10% bonus does not transform the value of Asia Miles overnight. However, it provides a welcome boost if you are about to book an award seat with Cathay Pacific or a oneworld partner. The right approach: find your flight first, calculate the miles required, then convert only what you need before August 28, 2026.
