Air Transat: New Destinations and Flight Schedule 2026-2027

Air Transat's new destinations cover winter 2026-2027 and summer 2027. The latest flight announcement incorporated here, published on October 29, 2026, adds Geneva and Birmingham. Earlier seasonal programs are identified in the historical sections.
Air Transat is adding five non-stop routes between Canada and Europe for summer 2027, including two new cities: Montreal–Geneva, twice a week starting June 19, and Toronto–Birmingham, twice a week starting June 22. The other three are Quebec City–Lyon, every Tuesday starting June 8, and Quebec City–Barcelona and Montreal–Faro, every Monday starting June 14. The airline unveiled its summer 2027 program on October 29, 2026.
The Quebec City–Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) and Montreal–St. Maarten routes also become year-round. With Lyon and Barcelona, Quebec City will have five non-stop European destinations in summer, and Barcelona will be the very first non-stop route between Quebec City and Spain.
Here are the seven changes in Air Transat's summer 2027 program, with their dates and operating days.
| Route | Period | Day | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quebec City (YQB)–Lyon (LYS) | June 8 to October 26, 2027 | Tuesday | 1 flight a week |
| Quebec City (YQB)–Barcelona (BCN) | June 14 to October 25, 2027 | Monday | 1 flight a week |
| Quebec City (YQB)–Puerto Plata (POP) | Year-round | Monday (summer) | 1 flight a week in summer |
| Montreal (YUL)–Geneva (GVA), Switzerland | June 19 to October 23, 2027 | Tuesday and Saturday | 2 flights a week |
| Toronto (YYZ)–Birmingham (BHX), United Kingdom | June 22 to October 22, 2027 | Tuesday and Friday | 2 flights a week |
| Montreal (YUL)–Faro (FAO), Portugal | June 14 to October 25, 2027 | Monday | 1 flight a week |
| Montreal (YUL)–St. Maarten (SXM), Caribbean | Year-round | Saturday, in summer | 1 flight a week in summer |
The Quebec City (YQB)–Lyon (LYS) route will operate from June 8 to October 26, 2027, with one flight a week on Tuesdays. Lyon joins three French cities that Air Transat already serves non-stop from Quebec City: Paris, Marseille and Nantes.
Lyon is a good gateway to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Alps and the Rhône Valley. Until now, travellers from Quebec City had to connect, often in Montreal or Paris, to get there.
The Quebec City (YQB)–Barcelona (BCN) route will operate from June 14 to October 25, 2027, also with one flight a week, on Mondays. Until now, no non-stop flight linked Quebec City to Spain.
Barcelona also gives easy access to the rest of the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean. A combined trip is possible, for example flying into Barcelona and home from Lyon, as long as you plan your own transportation between the two cities.
With these two additions, Air Transat will offer five non-stop European destinations from Quebec City in summer 2027:
Quebec City-Marseille launched in summer 2026. That season's program appears below. To prepare for departure, read our Quebec City Airport guide.
The Quebec City (YQB)–Puerto Plata (POP) route becomes year-round. In summer, it will operate once a week, on Mondays. Air Transat did not specify the winter frequency in its announcement.
This change mainly affects Transat vacation packages: you will be able to book a stay in Puerto Plata from Quebec City in any season.
The Montreal (YUL)–Geneva (GVA) route will operate from June 19 to October 23, 2027, with two flights a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Geneva is a French-speaking city on the shores of Lake Geneva, with easy access to the Alps, including Chamonix at the foot of Mont Blanc.
The Toronto (YYZ)–Birmingham (BHX) route will operate from June 22 to October 22, 2027, with two flights a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Birmingham complements London and Manchester, which Air Transat already serves in England. The city is close to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace, and the Cotswolds.
The Montreal (YUL)–Faro (FAO) route, to the Algarve in southern Portugal, will operate from June 14 to October 25, 2027, with one flight a week on Mondays. Air Transat already flies to Faro from Toronto, and Faro becomes its third Portuguese airport from Montreal, after Lisbon and Porto. The Montreal (YUL)–St. Maarten (SXM) route also becomes year-round, with one flight a week on Saturdays in summer.
The official July 31, 2026 announcement confirms year-round Montreal-Dakar service, the launch of Windsor-Cancun and a longer Fredericton-Cancun season. Dakar is served by an Airbus A330; winter service complements the two weekly summer flights.
| Route | Frequency | Day | Period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Montreal (YUL) – Dakar (DSS) | 1 flight/week | Friday | Oct. 30, 2026 to Mar. 26, 2027 |
| Windsor (YQG) – Cancún (CUN) | 1 flight/week | Saturday | Dec. 19, 2026 to Apr. 25, 2027 |
| Fredericton (YFC) – Cancún (CUN) | 1 flight/week | Wednesday | Dec. 16, 2026 to Apr. 29, 2027 |
Windsor-Cancun joins the existing Punta Cana service. Fredericton-Cancun is a returning route with a longer season, rather than a new destination. Check the operating dates and days when booking.

Air Transat launched Quebec City-Marseille on May 21, 2026, with Thursday service through October 8. Ottawa-London Gatwick started on May 15 with three weekly flights. An Ottawa-Montreal connection was also announced for May 5 to October 23, 2026. These dates describe summer 2026 and do not confirm the same schedule for 2027.
The announcement also included year-round Quebec City-Fort-de-France service and the routes below. Medellin itineraries stop in Cartagena; they are not nonstop flights all the way to Medellin.
| Route | Flights per week | Days |
|---|---|---|
| Montreal (YUL) – Cartagena (CTG) – Medellin (MDE)* | 1 | Thursday |
| Montreal (YUL) – Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP) | 2 | Tuesday and Saturday |
| Montreal (YUL) – San José (SJO) | 2 | Monday and Friday |
| Toronto (YYZ) – Cartagena (CTG) – Medellín (MDE)* | 1 | Wednesday |

Our article on Air Transat's new Staria rewards program has all the details.
Two other options remain simple:
For travellers in Eastern Quebec, these flights avoid a connection and a round trip to Montreal. That is a real time saver, especially for families.
The drawback is frequency: only one flight a week to each city, and only in summer. Your departure and return dates will have to line up with Tuesdays for Lyon and Mondays for Barcelona. Also compare the price with a flight from Montréal-Trudeau, which offers more date options.
Geneva and Birmingham give you more flexibility, with two flights a week each. Montreal–Geneva departs on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Toronto–Birmingham on Tuesdays and Fridays, so a one-week or ten-day trip is easy to plan.
