Air Canada Now Offers Free and Fast Wi-Fi on Several of Its Flights

Air Canada offre maintenant le Wi-Fi
To the point Air Canada now offers free, high-speed Wi-Fi to all Aeroplan members on several flights, with more to come.

Partnership with Bell for Wi-Fi on Air Canada

Wi-Fi literally takes off at Air Canada!

Last December, Air Canada announced its intention to launch fast, free Wi-Fi access starting May 2025. This is now a reality.

Starting today, Air Canada takes a significant step in enhancing the customer experience by launching its free and fast Wi-Fi service for all Aeroplan members. In the initial phase, Wi-Fi is available on its flights within North America and to sun destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.

This new offer, made possible thanks to a partnership with Bell, enables passengers to enjoy an Internet connection fast enough to stream videos and even play online games on their personal devices. The service is available free of charge to all Aeroplan members on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and even Air Canada Express, on flights operated with CRJ900 aircraft.

Because we love free stuff when we travel, take advantage of free baggage with a credit card affiliated with the Aeroplan program.

The TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card or the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card allow holders to benefit from the first free checked bag for themselves, as well as for the 8 other travellers booked on the same reservation.

Current Coverage and Planned Expansion

Currently, 88% of Air Canada’s fleet is equipped with Wi-Fi, with the remaining installations scheduled for completion by early 2026.

Here are the main stages of deployment:

  • 2025 (later this year): Installation of Wi-Fi on the Embraer E175 fleet and on the De Havilland Q400s serving Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ).
  • 2026: Expansion of free, high-speed Wi-Fi to international long-haul flights

While we wait for free Wi-Fi on international flights, there’s always the option of free messaging.

Here’s a summary of Air Canada’s Wi-Fi services in 2025-2026:

How to Connect to Air Canada's Free Wi-Fi

Connecting to the free on-board Wi-Fi is quick and easy. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Please ensure that your Aeroplan number is registered at the time of booking or add it before completing the check-in process;
  • Once on board, connect to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network and follow the instructions to access Wi-Fi;
  • To change mobile devices, simply repeat the above steps on the new device. In this way, the session will be transferred to the new device.

Customers who are not yet Aeroplan members can register for free on the Air Canada website. Travellers without a Aeroplan membership will be able to purchase Wi-Fi for their flight at a fixed rate using Aeroplan points or cash.

Bottom Line

For Aeroplan members this new service offers added value to the loyalty program, while the planned extension to international flights in 2026 promises to further enhance the travel experience for all passengers.

If you travel with Air Canada, this new reason to join the Aeroplan program (if you haven’t already) could save you money on Wi-Fi, while keeping you connected on the move.
