McDonald’s MyMcDonald’s loyalty program rewards loyal customers with exclusive offers, points, and free food. This program is great for people who frequent McDonald’s often, and not just for $1 icecream cones in the middle of summer!
How to Register for the MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program
To sign up for the MyMcDonald’s program, you need to download the McDonald’s mobile app, on Apple iOS or Android.
Then register for the program and set up your new profile.
Earning points
MyMcDonald’s is McDonald’s loyalty program that allows customers to earn points with every purchase. The math is pretty simple to accumulate points, where $1 in qualifying food purchases = 100 MyMcDonald’s points.
For example:
- A medium-sized French fry costs $4.39 = 439 points
These points can then be exchanged for free food.
Every time you order at a McDonald’s restaurant, collect your points using the code in the menu at bottom right.
- At the counter: show the code to the cashier
- Drive-through service: mention the code at the drive-through service
- Terminal inside the restaurant: scan the code on the left, at the bottom of the terminal.
- Mobile app ordering: you collect points automatically
Please note that points do not accrue when ordering McDonald’s delivery through an app such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, or SkiptheDishes.
If you forget to show your code at checkout, there’s a way to claim your points later. In the More section at the bottom right of the mobile application, click on Add receipt points.
How to Collect Even More McDonald’s Points
To earn more McDonald’s points, the MyMcDonald’s program offers special promotions to add more points into your account:
- When new products are launched;
- 2x points on your next order (a gift on your birthday);
- X points after 3 transactions of a certain amount;
- Annual Monopoly competition;
- Buy product Y and earn X points;
- Or according to your profile with targeted offers.
Redeeming Points
There are 5 reward levels. The more points you have, the greater the reward.
Only specific items are available as free rewards, not the entire menu.

Strangely enough, we get the best value out of McDonald’s points by exchanging them for simple Hash Browns!
Expiration of MyMcDonald’s Points
Pay particular attention to the expiration dates of McDonald’s points. McDonald’s points expire on the 1st day of the month following the 6th month from the date they were earned. For example, if you collect points on May 25, they will expire on December 1.
Only one reward can be redeemed per transaction. So if you want to exchange several items for points, you’ll have to make several transactions.
The first points you earn will be the first points to be redeemed.
How to Redeem McDonald’s Points for Free Food
When there are enough points for a reward, it will be available for point redemption.
In the application, click on Rewards and Offers at the bottom of the screen and choose the reward you want, according to your available points.
Then you can add it to your order for:
- Delivery
- Order it directly on the mobile application
- Or to generate a code and show it to the restaurant cashier or drive-thru.
Don’t forget that only one point redemption can be made per order. So if you want to buy 2 items with your points, you’ll need to make 2 separate transactions.
If you make your transaction in the app, you’ll see that no payment is required for your delicious order!
