Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks

An excellent choice for families, business and leisure travellers, the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks is a well-appointed hotel that provides a comfortable and peaceful stay.

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – Location

The Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks offers outstanding convenience for travellers travelling to or from the airport as it is only a 6-minute drive from Portland International Airport.

As a component of the larger Sable Oaks complex, the hotel is close by:

  • Holiday’s Inn Express & Suites South Portland
  • Holiday’s Inn South Portland

Additionally, within a five-minute drive, you’ll find two more Marriott hotels:

Every 15 minutes, a free shuttle service that offers convenient transportation between the airport and the hotel is available to guests.

While the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks has excellent access to the airport, it’s crucial to remember that if you don’t have a car and want to visit downtown Portland or the city’s attractions, other lodging options may be more convenient.

Indeed, we chose this property because it offered vast and free parking for our stay, which was convenient to explore the region with, at most, a 30-minute ride:

  • Downtown Portland
  • Cape Elizabeth
  • Fort Williams Park
  • Pine Point Beach
  • Old Orchard Beach

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – Booking and Check-in

My reservation at the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks was made on the day before our arrival, with the use of three free nights certificates; two of them were earned my Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card and my Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Card, and the third one was given after the I completed the requirement for a targeted offer last spring.

Review: Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks | Marriott Bonvoy - Marriott 3 nights

Considering the fact that it would have cost us over $1,200 had we paid in cash, it was very worth it to be credit card holders since the value I got outweighed the annual fees paid by a lot.

Furthermore, utilizing my Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card at the restaurant on-site allowed me to earn 5X points, enhancing the rewards for my stay.

We were pleasantly impressed by the calm and quick check-in procedure when we arrived at the hotel in the middle of the afternoon. Even though it was during peak check-in time, there were no lines, and we received our room right away, demonstrating the hotel’s dedication to its visitors’ needs.

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – Standard Guest Room

Our selection was a standard Guest room, 2 Doubles for our family of three at the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks. The room’s cleanliness and adequate size met our needs, and the room was also able to accommodate a pack-and-play park for our toddler. The decor, while not ultramodern, presented a cozy and inviting ambiance.

The beds were cozy, and they came with fluffy pillows and an electrical outlet that was conveniently placed on the side of each bed. A flat-screen smart TV, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker were included in the room’s amenities.

To meet the needs of different guests, in-room facilities featured a safe, an iron, an ironing board, and a baggage stand.

The bathroom was very clean and modern. Every standard amenity was available, including a bathtub, which is ideal for households with small children.

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – Amenities

The Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks has a fully equipped fitness centre on-site that is open 24/7 and has the usual training gear and weights.

The indoor pool is a welcoming choice for guests to unwind when it’s pouring outside or simply to amuse our little one before bedtime. A lovely patio also gives outdoor activities a sense of leisure.

Additionally, there are many conference rooms and common sitting spaces at the lobby level in addition to an office space.

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – Restaurant

The hotel’s on-site dining options include the City Farmhouse Kitchen & Bar, conveniently located adjacent to the reception. There was also a little market and grab-and-go section for quick bites.

Alternatively, guests can venture out to the many, many, restaurants located within a 10 minutes’ drive, such as:

  • Applebee’s Grill + Bar
  • UNO Pizzeria & Grill
  • McDonald’s
  • Friendly’s
  • IHOP
  • Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

We loved the fact that there were so many different dining options, both in culinary styles and budget. We do not have a high status with Marriott Bonvoy, and eating breakfast in the surrounding area of the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks was very easy.

Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks – General Impression

Our experience at the Sheraton Portland at Sable Oaks was marked by its efficiency and comfort, aligning well with our desire for a relaxed and convenient stay near points of interest in and around Portland. The hotel aptly caters to its purpose as an inviting and accessible accommodation choice if you have a car.

We also enjoyed using the indoor pool very much, which we did every day, as it was great to keep our toddler pleased and exhausted for a good night’s sleep!

The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

  • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
  • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.
