Sheraton Laval returns after two years of renovation

I discovered a Sheraton quite different from the brown-fronted hotel we’d seen for years on the side of Highway 15. The exterior of the Sheraton Laval now boasts a new, up-to-date façade. The interior is now bright, open and modern.

In fact, Caroline had stayed there in the past, just before its renovation, and despite the somewhat old-fashioned appearance, had really enjoyed her stay with her family.

Rooms are available from CAD 227 per night, or from 25,000 points per night in low season.

Sheraton Laval location

Located next to Carrefour Laval, it is within walking distance of the Cosmodome, Le Carrefour bus terminal, Colossus cinema, Centropolis and the office towers at the corner of Daniel-Johnson and Le Carrefour boulevards. The Montmorency metro station and Place Bell are about 3 kilometres away.

You have a ton of restaurants and activities close to this Sheraton.

The hotel’s free parking area has 20 Tesla Supercharger stations, with Flo pay stations for electric vehicles on levels 2 and 3 200 meters away (opposite the Bâton Rouge restaurant, in the Carrefour Laval parking lot).

On the first floor, several walls have been removed to create a much more convivial open-plan space. The entrance hall has been completely refurbished, while the bar and La Piazza restaurant have been opened up.

It has to be said that the hotel has undergone an enormous facelift, costing almost $20 million.

We wanted to make people rediscover the Sheraton, because they know it as the brown building all closed up inside, and when you get here now, the word you hear most is « Wow », it’s become a magnificent place to visit in downtown Laval, with a whole new atmosphere. We’ve really rejuvenated our image.

One of the restaurant’s attractive new features is a mixology specialist. In addition, the first floor now features a local produce market to encourage exchanges and offer customers more options.

A hotel for business people

Business people come here for both short and long-term stays, because the location is ideal for accessibility, close to Centropolis, 20 minutes from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Montréal.

What’s more, everything on the first floor can be adapted to suit the needs of business customers. User-friendly spaces have been set up for teamwork and remote work.

During my visit, I stayed in a Standard room on the 5th floor, which I found very comfortable. Each room at the Sheraton Laval features a marble bathroom, mini-refrigerator and connected TV.

The hotel is also welcoming a growing number of guests who haven’t necessarily booked a room, but come to enjoy the Amerispa, gourmet Saturday dinners or Sunday brunches.

A lounge area is available on the 2nd floor for continental breakfast and dinner. Choose from 3 restaurants:

• La Piazza, for Mediterranean cuisine,
• Bar La Cupola, for international dishes,
• Comptoir Gourmand La Spesa, for take-away and on-the-go meals.

The pool

Amerispa Sheraton Laval features an urban spa with heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room, along with a range of treatments, all for an indoor spa experience.

A modernized convention center

The Sheraton Laval convention center has been enlarged by more than 10,000 sq. ft. and now boasts generous windows, with one room opening onto a terrace. A gourmet counter, very practical for coffee breaks, has been added to the service offering.

The hotel hosts corporate conventions, events for non-profit organizations and graduation balls, all of which benefit from enlarged and completely refurbished rooms.

There are 8 multi-purpose halls accommodating from 10 to 2,000 people. The new spaces are extremely flexible, with up to 70 possible configurations. Multimedia tools, including lighting and sound, have also been modernized.

The gym

Hotel guests also have free access to the fitness center, open 24 hours a day, every day. The gym is equipped with cardio-training equipment and weights.

Bottom Line

The renovations will have brought back to theSheraton Laval Hotel a younger clientele that was no longer coming. If you need to book a room in the Laval area, this business-friendly hotel is a great option.
