Location

The luxurious JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is located in Yaletown next to BC Place Stadium, just off the banks of False Creek.

Review : JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel | Marriott Bonvoy - JW Marriott Parq Vancouver---

This was our second stay in the beautiful city of Vancouver. We were right next to Canada Place and Stanley Park at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel the first time.

This time, the T.rex exhibit at Science World was of great interest to the kids, and we wanted to explore the southeast part of the city.

Just before the flight to Vancouver, I met one of our authors Jonathan, at the Maple Leaf Lounge in Montreal. He praised the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver highly. So, expectations were high!

Parking

We arrived directly from the Vancouver International Airport via the Canada Line subway. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Then it’s about a 10-minute walk from the Yaletown-Roundhouse station.

Parking at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver costs $50, or $55 if you choose the valet option. In addition, there are 24 Level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles, spread over three floors.

Reception and registration

Via the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app chat, I had alerted the hotel that we would be arriving early (11:00 am). So when we arrived, our room was already ready.

The hotel was almost full that night. The city was overflowing with events over the long weekend, including the Vancouver International Wine Festival and Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria show.

The registration was done efficiently and quickly. The attendant explained the various hotel options in a friendly yet very professional manner. We would never have guessed if she hadn’t told us she was new.

The reception is vast and sumptuous, in contemporary shades of brown and gold. She also shared a space with the concierge, who gave us several good tips for visiting the city.

The room

We were on the 15th floor, overlooking False Creek and Science World. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, a film on the window prevented a good view. You can see the grain in the photo below.

Review : JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel | Marriott Bonvoy - JW Marriott Parq Vancouver---

The room had two queen-sized beds, a work desk, two armchairs and a small table.

A desk with two drawers also included a refrigerator and a coffee maker for illy coffees.

Review : JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel | Marriott Bonvoy - JW Marriott Parq Vancouver---

The room furnishings were modern and visually beautiful but uncomfortable. To compensate, the soft beds were simply divine.

Then, to complete the room, a closet contained two robes and two pairs of slippers.

The bathroom was large, with the shower and toilet separated by a partition and a door. This is convenient, especially for a family of 4 that needs the bathroom simultaneously for different reasons.

Hotel services

Restaurants

One restaurant is located directly in the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver hotel: The Honey Salt. It is a casual type of restaurant with an emphasis on local products.

Review : JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel | Marriott Bonvoy - JW Marriott Parq Vancouver---

The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is part of the Parq complex, home to a casino and the DOUGLAS, Autograph Collection, another Marriott hotel.

Therefore, a multitude of restaurants are accessible inside:

  • BC Kitchen (sports bar)
  • Center Bar (bar)
  • 24/7 Easts (for a quick bite)
  • Lotus Whiskey & Tea Lounge (signature cocktails and sophisticated teas)
  • The Noodle Bar (Asian restaurant)
  • The Victor (steakhouse)
  • D/6 Lounge (Bar with a distinguished atmosphere)

Spa, Aqua Lounge and gym

On the 17th floor, there is the fitness room and the Aqua Lounge.

The fitness room has a multitude of treadmills and different machines to work every muscle in your body.

A little further on is a terrace with several chairs, umbrellas and patio tables.

A small whirlpool is at the end of the terrace. The size is disappointing, especially for a hotel of this category and size, as there is no pool.

The Spa by JW is on the same floor and offers massage and skin care treatments.

Lounge

Located on the 4th floor, the lounge is huge. In addition, the staff was very attentive throughout our stay.

The lounge is open all day to Platinum members and above. Beverages, coffee, tea, snacks and yogurt are available at all times. Then, breakfast is offered in the morning, and entrees are available at supper time.

Everything was delicious and varied. The menu was different on our two days.

A member of my family who is gluten intolerant was over the moon. There were gluten-free options!

During breakfast, a toaster was designated primarily for the gluten-free bakery. This is a rare occurrence and it was highly appreciated.

Alcohol is also offered, and the cost will be added to your room bill.

My impression of the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver

Jonathan was totally right and our stay at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver was sublime!

The distinguished customer service, the services offered, the lounge, and the soft beds were perfect. This hotel is considered luxurious so expect a price that reflects that luxury.

However, I could lower the bill by applying the best price guarantee. This saved me $348! See the article below to show how I did it.

The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

  • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
  • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.
