Tunisair connects Montréal with Tunis. It offers Economy and Business travel and operates its own loyalty program, Fidelys. For a journey from Canada, baggage allowances, fare conditions, and reward availability need to be checked separately.
Tunisair between Montréal and Tunis
The Canadian Tunisair booking site sells the Montréal–Tunis route, between YUL and TUN. Search outbound and return dates together to see the itinerary offered. Add any onward city to the search instead of assuming a connection is included.
The arrival day matters as much as the departure time. If accommodation or an airport pickup depends on the flight, send the local arrival time and flight number to the provider. Recheck those arrangements after any reservation change.
Our Tunisia travel guide helps plan the trip after arrival. For the departure from Montréal, consult the YUL lounge guide. Lounge admission depends on the ticket, status, or access entitlement held.
Economy, Business, and fare conditions
The cabin and the fare serve different purposes. The cabin identifies the product reserved, while fare conditions determine matters such as changes and refunds. A more flexible Economy ticket does not become a Business ticket.
Before paying, record each sector’s cabin, the total amount, and included services. A Business long-haul flight does not automatically describe the seat on a connecting aircraft. Use the seat map associated with the departure selected.
Read the rules for a missed departure or a return-date change. When changes are permitted, the new flight may cost more. Waiving a service charge does not necessarily mean the airline will absorb the difference in airfare.
Montréal–Tunis checked baggage
Tunisair’s official baggage chart distinguishes North America from other regions. For travel between North America and Tunisia, it lists 2 bags up to 23 kg each in Economy and 3 up to 23 kg each in Business. A standard piece has a 158 cm combined-dimensions limit.
Read the allowance printed on your ticket before packing. Multiple reservations or another operating airline may require separate checks. If adding a bag, use the charge for the relevant direction rather than a price quoted for a different origin.
The piece count and weight are separate limits. A two-piece allowance does not permit concentrating the combined weight into one suitcase. Weigh each piece and leave room for return purchases instead of relying on discretion at the counter.
Cabin bag and personal accessory
Tunisair lists 1 cabin bag up to 8 kg in Economy, and 2 pieces with a combined 10 kg limit in Business. The stated standard cabin-bag dimensions are 55 × 40 × 20 cm. Its packing advice also describes an under-seat accessory measuring no more than 20 × 40 × 30 cm.
In Business, 10 kg is the total for the two cabin pieces. Packing two 10 kg cases would exceed that allowance. Include handles, wheels, and filled external pockets when measuring a rigid case.
Special items must be checked under their own rules. An ordinary suitcase allowance does not automatically cover a pet, bicycle, or bulky equipment under the same conditions. Contact the airline before arranging the carriage of an item needing specific acceptance.
How Fidelys works
Fidelys is Tunisair’s loyalty program. Enrolment creates an account for eligible activity. Provide the membership number when booking or checking in, using a name that matches the ticket.
The program distinguishes mileage earning from status benefits. Check the booking class before deciding where to credit a trip. On a codeshare, the selling carrier’s identity does not replace checking which airline actually operates the flight.
Keep the e-ticket and boarding passes until activity appears in the account. Those documents help identify the itinerary if credit is missing. For a family journey, verify each account and reservation instead of assuming all activity can be placed into a single balance.
Booking a Fidelys award flight
The Fidelys award-ticket page describes reward-specific inventory. It identifies booking class X for Economy and Z for Business. Taxes remain payable when issuing the ticket, so using miles does not eliminate all additional payments.
Its published advance-booking periods are 7 days for Classic, 3 days for Silver, and no advance restriction for Gold. The page provides for a mileage increase when the required period is not respected. Review your account’s rules before relying on a last-minute reward.
Prepare the destination, party size, and desired cabin before searching. Check every sector and remaining charge, then read the reward’s change conditions. A sufficient account balance does not guarantee that several seats are open on the specific flight required.
Using Canadian points on a paid ticket
Bank-program points can reduce an eligible travel expense. The Scotiabank Gold American Express Card earns Scene+ points. Applying them to a paid purchase is separate from booking a Fidelys award.
You first purchase the airfare under the selected fare conditions, then apply points to an eligible transaction under the rewards program’s rules. Those points do not become Tunisair miles or automatically give airline status or additional baggage.
Check the expense that will post to the account, the available balance, and the deadline to request a credit. If the ticket is later refunded, follow the bank program’s treatment of the rewards credit. An airfare covered by travel points retains its own cancellation rules.
Calculating the cost of your stay
For the same Montréal–Tunis itinerary, note the paid total including necessary bags and seats. For Fidelys, record the miles and cash payment required for every traveller. Do not compare a bag-free one-way fare with a more complete return ticket.
Our points-or-cash calculator helps assess reward value. The best credit cards guide presents Canadian programs and card costs. Current conditions and offers are on the corresponding card pages.
A bank-points credit may suit fixed dates if you already hold enough points for the desired paid ticket. If you have Fidelys miles, search the available inventory first. Include any extra accommodation, late arrival, or separately booked connection in the overall budget.
Connections and travel after Tunis
An onward flight and a ground transfer require different arrangements. If another flight follows arrival at TUN, check its time, booking reference, and baggage arrangements. With separate tickets, find out what must be completed between the two check-ins.
At departure, ask how far the bag is tagged and keep the baggage receipt. Prepare both reservation numbers and the details of anyone meeting you. If a flight time changes, update the transport and first-night arrangements tied to it.
For another trip from Montréal to the Maghreb, our Air Algérie guide and Royal Air Maroc guide cover routes through Algiers and Casablanca. Their loyalty programs and baggage rules are separate from Tunisair’s.
Worked example: planning a family stay from Montréal
Take two adults in Economy whose Montréal–Tunis tickets each confirm two 23 kg checked bags. Pack four pieces that individually meet that limit. For cabin baggage, each person must also meet the applicable individual allowance. An overweight cabin case does not become compliant because the other traveller carries a lighter bag.
If booking a domestic flight or another carrier beyond Tunis, record the second ticket’s allowance before purchasing luggage. Identify where bags must be collected too. A shared city name on the two confirmations does not establish that cases will automatically transfer between the reservations.
For Fidelys travel, start the award search with the exact party size. Match the advance-booking requirement to the status of the account issuing the reward. If using several accounts, check the transaction, inventory, and additional payments for each one. Do not organize a group stay solely around finding the first available award seat.
For a paid booking, calculate all tickets and required options together. Check that selected seats belong to the correct travellers and that additional baggage applies in the intended direction. A bag purchased only outbound should not be counted again among the return services.
An Economy ticket and an award in another cabin are not interchangeable products for the calculation. Match the itinerary, bags, and flexibility that matter to the trip. If one option requires another hotel night or an inconvenient transfer, include those effects before deciding that its lower point total represents better value.
Checking the return journey from Tunisia
Review the flight schedule before confirming transport to the airport. If the departure has moved, adjust hotel checkout arrangements and other reservations linked to the journey. Keep the final confirmation available offline, with ticket numbers and receipts for services added after the initial purchase.
If something needs correction, identify the ticket issuer and booking channel. An agency purchase and a reward issued through a loyalty account can require different contacts. Keep evidence of confirmed changes and then reopen the reservation to make sure the dates and travellers match the intended journey.
For a points credit against a paid fare, save the purchase details as well as the bank-program confirmation. A credit on the card statement does not show whether the airline reservation itself has been changed. Check the two records separately whenever the trip is modified or refunded.
Read the airline’s current instructions shortly before travelling. The allowance chart and award examples in this guide explain how to prepare, while the issued ticket identifies the services purchased for your departure. If a general chart appears inconsistent with that reservation, ask the airline or issuer to clarify the actual entitlement before adding optional services.
