Royal Jordanian: flights, baggage and points from Canada

Royal Jordanian serves Montréal and Toronto and connects Canada with its Amman hub. Its cabins are Economy and Crown Class, the airline’s Business Class. Royal Club is its loyalty program; Avios provide another way to book selected Royal Jordanian flights.
The routing depends on where you board. Montréal has Royal Jordanian service to Amman. A Toronto departure may include a stop in Montréal: Pearson’s RJ272 flight page identifies Amman via Montréal. Keeping the same flight number does not necessarily mean a nonstop journey.
Use Royal Jordanian’s timetable for your travel dates. Schedules and aircraft can vary by season. Our Toronto Pearson guide covers the departure airport. In Montréal, the YUL lounge guide explains airport zones and admission conditions.
Our 12-day Jordan itinerary covers the ground portion of the trip. Arriving in Amman and leaving from Aqaba, for example, requires separate flight searches; a road itinerary does not require returning to the arrival airport.
Crown Class is Royal Jordanian’s Business Class. The airline’s Boeing 787-8 description lists 24 Crown and 246 Economy seats. Its 787-9 has a different layout, with 32 Crown and 280 Economy seats.
Open the seat map for the flight you are booking. These two models have different cabin plans, and a long-haul Crown description does not necessarily describe a regional aircraft used beyond Amman. For a Business itinerary, read the cabin listed for each sector.
Royal Jordanian’s Canada baggage rules distinguish fare families. For an adult or a child occupying a seat, subject to the airline’s stated exceptions:
Each bag must fit within 158 cm when length, width, and height are added. Two 23 kg pieces do not allow a single 46 kg suitcase. Status allowances follow separate rules.
When an itinerary starts with another marketing carrier in North America, that carrier’s rules may apply. Check the allowance printed on the issued ticket for the whole journey, particularly when a Canadian flight comes before the Royal Jordanian sector.
The airline’s carry-on rules allow one 7 kg bag in Economy. Crown permits two 7 kg bags, except on Embraer aircraft, where the limit is one piece. The listed maximum size is 23 × 41 × 51 cm, with total dimensions limited to 115 cm.
A personal item weighing up to 5 kg and measuring no more than 20 × 40 × 35 cm is also permitted under the seat. Wheels and handles count towards the main bag’s dimensions.
Royal Jordanian belongs to oneworld. Royal Club distinguishes redeemable Award Miles from Tier Miles used for status. Silver Jay, Gold Sparrow, and Platinum Hawk correspond to oneworld Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.
The Royal Club redemption page describes award tickets and other rewards. It states that Bronze Sunbird members must have credited a flight activity before using certain functions, including redemption and mileage purchases. Opening an empty account therefore does not necessarily enable every transaction immediately.
British Airways Reward Flights provide searches for eligible partner airlines. Search Royal Jordanian with your actual dates, airports, and passenger count. Seats available for Avios depend on the inventory released to that program.
The British Airways Club uses Avios. The Canadian American Express directory lists transfers from Membership Rewards to that program. The American Express Cobalt® Card earns Membership Rewards points; the transfer goes to the partner program account rather than Royal Club.
Find the award first, then check the Avios total and cash payment before transferring. The program issuing the ticket sets its award cancellation rules.
You can also buy a Royal Jordanian ticket and apply an eligible travel statement credit. The Scotiabank Gold American Express Card earns Scene+ points. This use reduces an eligible purchase under the program’s conditions; it does not issue a Royal Club award ticket.
Our best credit cards guide lists fees and programs. For other routes to the region, the Qatar Airways guide and Turkish Airlines guide cover journeys through Doha and Istanbul. Our newsletter follows program changes.
