How to earn Starbucks Rewards stars?

With the Starbucks Rewards program, you can earn points, or rather “stars.” Since the March 2026 relaunch, your earning rate depends on your membership Level rather than your payment method:

Your Level is reassessed on an ongoing rolling 12-month basis, rather than a fixed calendar year. Green Level stars expire 6 months after they’re earned (with a possible 1-month extension if you make a qualifying purchase that month), while Gold and Reserve stars don’t expire as long as you keep your status.

A monthly perk called Free Mod Mondays gives every member, regardless of Level, a free customization (up to $2 in value) on the priciest modifier in their order, on one designated Monday each month. Gold and Reserve members also get Double Star Days: at least 4 per year for Gold, and up to 10 per year for Reserve.
