The PLUM Rewards Program is offered by Indigo Books & Music Inc. which owns Indigo, Chapters, Coles, Indigospirit and The Book Company. It’s free and only available to Canadians. The PLUM Plus program costs $39 per year and offers discounts, exclusive benefits and free shipping.
Earning points
You earn 5 PLUM points for every dollar spent, before taxes, and minus the applicable discount if applicable.
PLUM points are accumulated in different ways:
- When you join the PLUM program, you receive 1,000 points for your first purchase,
- In-store where we present our card or membership number before the transaction is completed,
- online and through Indigo’s mobile application, before completing the transaction,
- by promotions from INDIGO or partner stores, PLUM POINTS bonus which may however have a limited validity.
PLUM POINTS expire after 12 consecutive months of no activity.
Redeeming points
PLUM points can be redeemed for purchases in-store, online or through the Indigo app. The exchange takes place according to a fixed scale and is limited to 35,000 per transaction.

How do I redeem my PLUM points at Indigo?
The exchange follows a progressive scale (not a flat rate): 2,500 points = $5, 4,500 points = $10, 8,500 points = $20, 20,000 points = $50, and 35,000 points = $100 (maximum per transaction). The more points you redeem at once, the better the value per point. Points are automatically available at checkout or during online payment once you’re logged into your account. They can be used on most products (books, toys, gift items, stationery), with the exception of gift cards. No expiry date as long as your account remains active at least once every 12 months.
What are the benefits of the paid PLUM Plus plan?
For $39 per year, PLUM Plus offers a permanent 10% discount on most purchases and unlimited free shipping with no minimum purchase on Indigo.ca, plus invitations to exclusive events. The point-earning rate (5 PLUM points per dollar spent) stays the same for both PLUM Plus and free members: the value of PLUM Plus comes from the discount and free shipping, not a boosted point-earning rate. If you shop regularly at Indigo, the 10% discount quickly makes the plan worthwhile. Compare with other rewards programs before subscribing.
Can I combine PLUM points with a rewards credit card?
Yes. When you make a purchase at Indigo, you automatically earn your PLUM points (5 points per dollar spent, regardless of your PLUM or PLUM Plus status) by providing your membership number, regardless of payment method. Then pay with a rewards credit card that earns points or cash back on general purchases, such as an Aeroplan or American Express card. PLUM points alone yield a return of roughly 1% to 1.4%, depending on the redemption tier, so combining with a card offering 1% to 2% cash back can bring the combined return to roughly 2% to 3.4%.
