How Virgin Atlantic’s Status Match Works
The status match program allows Aeroplan members with elite status to obtain an equivalent status with Virgin Atlantic.
Here are the conditions:
- Join the Flying Club (free)
- Book an eligible Virgin Atlantic flight (in Premium, Upper Class or Economy)
- Submit the application form with your proof of Aeroplan Elite status, at least 7 days before your flight.
- Wait for confirmation (about 72 hours before the flight)
Flying Club Membership Levels
It’s interesting to note that Virgin Atlantic ‘s presence in Canada is a recent development. The British company has been operating a direct service between Toronto (YYZ) and London Heathrow (LHR) for just two months.
If you’re planning a trip to London, you might want to give this airline a try. Here are the equivalents:

Your flight can be booked using Virgin points or cash, and even via a partner (such as Westjet), thanks to a code share (but the flight code must begin with VS).
Flying Club Silver status offers:
- 30% more points on flights;
- Free extra checked baggage;
- Priority check-in;
- Preferred seat allocation in Economy class.
While Flying Club Gold status offers:
- 60% more points on flights;
- Additional checked baggage and hand baggage on all fare classes;
- Access to Revivals airport lounges;
- Priority check-in and boarding;
- Preferred seat allocation;
- Additional points on the member’s birthday, etc.
Bottom Line
Make sure to read all the fine print of the offer and time your application carefully, as the status obtained with Flying Club is only valid for 12 months.
