Buying Wyndham Rewards Points: Up to a 100% Bonus Until October 21

Buying Wyndham Rewards Points: Up to a 100% Bonus Until October 21
Share

Until October 21, 2026, Wyndham Rewards is giving a 50% to 100% bonus on purchased points. The percentage depends on how many points you buy and on your account: at the top tier, a point costs 0.65 US cents, or about 0.92 Canadian cents. Milesopedia values a Wyndham Rewards point at 1 Canadian cent, so buying Wyndham points only makes sense at the top of the grid, with a specific stay in mind.

Wyndham is one of the most widespread hotel groups in Canada, with brands such as Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada, Travelodge and Microtel. Our Wyndham Rewards program guide explains how to earn and redeem points, and our hotel loyalty program comparison shows how it stacks up against other chains.

Buying Wyndham points: the current promotion

The offer runs from September 9, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. to October 21, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. It is targeted: the bonus shown in your account may differ from another member's. Here is the grid published in the terms of the base offer:

16,000 and more80% (90% or 100% for some members)0.72¢ (0.68¢ or 0.65¢)

Most members see this grid, which tops out at 80%. Other accounts get an upgraded version, with 90% or 100% at the top tier. Sign in to your Wyndham Rewards account before settling on an amount: it is the only place your exact percentage appears.

During the promotion, Wyndham also raises its annual purchase cap from 60,000 to 100,000 points, bonus excluded. With a 100% bonus, a purchase at the cap gets you 200,000 points in total.

How much does a Wyndham point cost?

Outside a promotion, Wyndham sells its points at 1.3 US cents each, or US$13 per 1,000 points. The bonus does not change that price: it changes how many points you receive. The real cost per point therefore drops as the bonus rises:

To convert to Canadian dollars, we used a rate of about C$1.41 per US$1, the rate on September 25, 2026. GST or HST then applies, plus QST for Quebec residents: Points.com charges them to Canadian residents.

The purchase is billed in US dollars on Points.com, the site that processes the transaction for Wyndham. A no foreign transaction fee credit card saves you the 2.5% most Canadian cards add to a purchase in a foreign currency.

Terms to know

  • Timing: points post to your account within 72 hours of the transaction.
  • Status: purchased points do not count toward Wyndham Rewards member levels.
  • Refunds: all Points.com transactions are final and non-refundable.
  • Stacking: the offer cannot be combined with any other promotion.
  • Expiry: Wyndham points expire four years after you earn them, or sooner after 18 months with no account activity.

Is buying Wyndham points worth it?

The math takes one line: divide the total price, taxes included, by the number of points you receive, then compare the result to the 1-cent Canadian value. With a 100% bonus, you pay about 0.92 Canadian cents before taxes; once GST and QST are added in Quebec, you are already past that threshold. With an 80% bonus, a point costs about 1.02 Canadian cents before taxes.

In other words, buying Wyndham points "for later" rarely pays off. A purchase starts to make sense when a specific booking is worth much more in cash than in points.

Since September 15, 2026, free nights cost 5,000 to 45,000 points per room depending on the hotel, instead of the previous 30,000 maximum; we covered these new tiers in our article on the Wyndham Rewards devaluation. A hotel at 7,500 points a night that sells for C$150 in cash is a good deal; a hotel at 45,000 points is much less so.

Two situations tip the balance:

  • Resort fees: Wyndham waives them on nights booked with points, which can be worth tens of dollars a night at a resort.
  • High-demand dates: a hotel's points price stays fixed within its tier, even when the cash rate soars during a festival or a long weekend.

If you stay at the group's hotels often, the current Wyndham Rewards stay promotion also helps you earn points faster without buying any.

Bottom line

The Wyndham Rewards buy points promotion gives up to a 100% bonus until October 21, 2026. At the top tier, a point costs about 0.92 Canadian cents before taxes, just under the 1-cent value we give it. Buy only if your account shows 90% or 100%, if you buy at least 16,000 points in a single transaction, and if a specific stay justifies the spend. Buying Wyndham Rewards points: frequently asked questions

Is there a Wyndham buy points promotion right now?

Yes. From September 9 to October 21, 2026, Wyndham Rewards is giving a 50% to 100% bonus depending on how many points you buy and on your account. The base grid gives 50% from 3,000 to 9,000 points, 60% from 10,000 to 15,000 points and 80% from 16,000 points; some members get 90% or 100% at the top tier.

How much does a Wyndham Rewards point cost?

Outside a promotion, 1.3 US cents per point, or US$13 per 1,000 points. During the current promotion, the real cost drops to 0.72 US cents with an 80% bonus, 0.68 US cents with 90% and 0.65 US cents with 100%. Sales taxes apply for Canadian residents.

How many Wyndham points can you buy per year?

The usual cap is 60,000 points per calendar year, bonus excluded. During the current promotion, Wyndham raises it to 100,000 points. With a 100% bonus, a purchase at the cap gets you 200,000 points in total.

Is buying Wyndham points worth it?

Only at the top of the grid and with a specific stay in mind. Milesopedia values a Wyndham point at 1 Canadian cent, and the best price in this promotion works out to about 0.92 Canadian cents before taxes. Nights at a 7,500- or 15,000-point hotel, or at a resort that charges resort fees, give the best return. See our points valuation to compare.

Do purchased Wyndham points count toward status?

No. Purchased points and bonus points do not count toward Wyndham Rewards member levels. They can only be used for free nights or other program rewards.

Do Wyndham Rewards points expire?

Yes. They expire four years after you earn them, even if your account stays active. They can also be forfeited sooner, after 18 consecutive months with no earning, redeeming or transferring. Plan your purchase around an upcoming trip.
