Overview
The rewards program of the Second Cup Coffee chain, recently acquired by Quebec franchisor Foodstatic, has been in existence since 1975 and has 185 coffee shops, including 45 in Quebec. Its rewards program allows points to be accumulated on all products in the store, except for gift cards and certain promotions.
Earning points
To earn points, the Second Cup loyalty card must be presented before the end of the transaction.
- Each dollar spent before taxes earns 10 points.
- Second Cup also offers promotions with point multipliers and bonus points. These events are advertised in-store, on secondcup.com, on the Second Cup app for mobile devices or sent via email. To receive these, you must subscribe to Second Cup emails.
Redeeming points
The accumulated points can be redeemed as follows:
- 250 points get you a free small brewed coffee or tea.
- 500 points will get you a free drink of any standard size (medium brewed coffee, tea, or Italian soda). That means you had to spend $50 to get the amount of points you need for a free medium-size coffee.
- 1,000 points get you a free medium espresso-based beverage, hot chocolate, or smoothie
- 1,500 points qualifies a 312g pre-packaged bag of coffee beans, a box of K-Cup pods, or a box of tea

Yes. According to the program’s official policy, Second Cup points generally expire six (6) months after the month in which they were accumulated, with notice sent 30 to 60 days before expiration. Separately, an account inactive for a year or more may be terminated, which resets the points balance to zero. To avoid losing your points, redeem them before the deadline shown in the app and make regular purchases to keep your account active.
