The W Montreal Hotel is located in the building previously occupied by the Bank of Canada. It was renovated in 2016 with the spirit of renewing the proposed experience through artworks by local artists in collaboration with MASSIVart and the Sid Lee Architecture agency. In addition, music is put forward with the arrival of DJs and the organization of events regularly as well.
In the past, we had already reviewed The Ritz-Carlton – Montreal and Jean-François the Humaniti Hotel Montreal, Autograph Collection. So, we wanted to indulge ourselves with the very design hotel W Montreal of the Marriott Bonvoy brand.
We discovered it during a weekend in duo. Also, one of the loyal members of the community, Lynda, shared with us some pictures of her beautiful experience. I should point out that this is not a hotel we recommend for a family stay.
W Montreal - Reservation
At our booking time, we had secured the Wonderful room at a rate of $320 per night. Our experience was during COVID-19, explaining this reasonable price for a hotel of this range. Prices are currently around 470 CAD. We will then be upgraded to the Fantastic suite.
It’s best to use your Marriott Bonvoy points; you can find rates starting at 44,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

Get Marriott Bonvoy points
As always, the best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points for free stays at over 8,000 hotels worldwide is still to be a holder of the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card (and/or the Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Card).
In addition to the great welcome bonus on both cards, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on all purchases and 5 points per dollar at Marriott locations. And each year, you’ll earn a certificate for one free hotel stay (35,000 point value) and 15 Elite nights toward your Marriott Bonvoy status.
W Montreal - Location
The W Montreal is on the street of Square-Victoria, which is perfect if you want to visit Old Montreal. From the airport, it will take you about 20 minutes to get there via the A20 by car or bus. The entrance to the subway is located right next to it, outside, and directly through the basement.

W Montreal - Registration
When you enter the premises, the registration desk is on the left. It is relatively small. The W stands elevated. The space is rather cozy.
Then on the other side is the Living Room W. This inviting lounge is bright, comfortable and colourful with its flashy hues and neon lights about the Montreal streets and the idea of putting local artists forward.
The room has been designed for business people who come for a staycation but also for those who want to relax and be inspired for a moment in this design and graphic universe. In the evening, it’s a warm and musical atmosphere where you can enjoy tapas with a good cocktail.

Check-in will be quick, and we will access Fantastic suite 716 by the elevators, located at the back of the reception on the right. There is also a Moët & Chandon champagne bottle dispenser.

W Montreal - Fantastic Suite
We could not get the WOW or Extreme WOW suite. However, we were upgraded to the Fantastic suite, which was beyond our expectations, beautifully decorated with its bar area, and separate bedroom from the dressing room and bathroom.

The space is all open and gives a feeling of grandeur. A beautiful luminosity enters the room. A wooden wall with a flat-screen TV separates the office and relaxation areas from the bedroom.
For the bathroom, a curtain can be drawn across to allow for more privacy.
The design is dynamic with the lines of its graphic carpet, the contrast of white furniture and others with golden colours or touches of blue. Its lovely modern and chic layout reminded me a bit of my experience at W Dubai, The Palm.
The bed signed W was also very comfortable.
W Montreal - Linda Vezina's WOW Suite Experience
Lynda enjoyed her experience at the W Montreal last July, both for her warm welcome and the facilities.

The breakfast buffet was available when we were there, but it was not when we visited. This one was complete; the latte coffee was at will. And the best, she was able to get an upgrade to a WOW suite, with an earlier arrival and a later departure.

W Montreal - Other services
In addition to the tapas served in the Lounge, the W Montreal is home to the very good TBSP restaurant with Italian cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, or evenings. The food is delicious. Our only comment, while we were on COVID-19, the food was excellent, but the table service was quite long for our brunch.
The place comes alive some nights with the presence of a DJ, for example, with their Mixodiologie Fridays. Follow their Facebook account not to miss anything. Moreover, the hotel also offers a Fiesta Disco Event to celebrate New Year’s Eve!

Nevertheless, we enjoyed it, and the space is delightful, more uncluttered and bright than the living room with its large windows.
Another experience not to be missed, following the success of the Champagne Box mentioned above, the W Montreal is now offering the Sound Box presented by Hennessy, the famous French distiller. This immersive concept allows groups of up to 6 people to enjoy a unique experience. The idea behind it is to highlight the long-standing relationship between Hennessy and hip-hop.
In the comfort of the lounge, you can revisit the iconic hip-hop music collection while sipping cognac-based cocktails from the famous brand:
Hennessy and hip-hop have a long-standing relationship, and we are proud to showcase it in a sensory way. Our team is motivated to deliver a memorable and outstanding experience, and we are confident that this collaboration will contribute to that. The pleasure is for us to make our guests discover an experience as unique as this one.
Alexandre Tessier, directeur des ventes et du marketing au W Montréal
The rate is 95 CAD/per person. However, if you stay in WOW and EWOW suites, you will receive free access for two people. Enjoy!
Finally, in the summer, you can enjoy the W terrace for an urban and lively atmosphere on Victoria Square.
W Montreal - Fitness room
Unfortunately, there is no pool at this hotel, but a lovely FIT gym is located on the SS2 level for those who want to take care of themselves. A detox center that offers modern equipment and is available 24/7
W Montreal - Around the hotel
The W Montreal hotel is located near the Montreal Convention Center but within walking distance of the cultural activities of the Old Port. Several good restaurants are close by; also, you can reach the city center in 10 minutes on foot.

W Montreal - My general impression
We left having had a great experience overall at W Montreal. We would have liked to spend more time there to enjoy its lively evenings, but unfortunately, our schedule did not allow it. We will try to come back and try one of their events to make our experience more complete, and why not try their Whatever/Whenever® service!
Finally, a special thanks to Lynda for sharing her opinion and photos with us!
