Highlights include the beautiful basilica of San Giovanni Battista, the church of Santa Maria Assunta and Riomaggiore castle.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;36359&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>For those who love hiking, the Via dell&#8217; <em>amore is<\/em> one of the best known for its panoramic views. This path can take you on <strong>foot to the village of Manarola<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Manarola&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;manarola&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinqueterre-italie.com\/manarola\/\">Manarola<\/a> is said to be the oldest and 2nd-smallest village. The steep cliffs are impressive, and the streets of this village are colorful. For the more sporty, there&#8217;s a sea access for jumping off the rocks or relaxing on the warm rocks.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;36347,36345,36353,36355,36337&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Unlike some other villages, there is a small port of call for small boats. It was here that we boarded Dario&#8217;s private boat, who owns the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tripadvisor.fr\/Attraction_Review-g187819-d14098785-Reviews-Rayo_Verde_Tour-Manarola_Cinque_Terre_Italian_Riviera_Liguria.html\">Rayo Verde Tour<\/a> company, which I highly recommend. I&#8217;ll tell you more about it below!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Corniglia&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;corniglia&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The smallest and most perched village, with no access to the sea, but with splendid views. The village is more agricultural.<\/p>\n<p>The bravest will climb the almost 400 steps to the top. I loved losing myself in its narrow, flower-filled streets, galleries, boutiques, Italian specialties and relaxing on the quayside of the little port. Some will try a swim in the small creek.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;36323,36325,36375&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Monterosso&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;monterosso&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>A fortified village, it&#8217;s one of the largest, separated by a rocky outcrop that juts out into the sea. You will find the most beautiful beach of all the villages, very large. And the vine is cultivated in terraces, maintained by dry stone walls.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;36339&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>These lands, initially inhabited by peasants, were far from everything. It was necessary to carve, model the steps and access to its villages by sea or land. I&#8217;ll leave you to imagine the work accomplished by these inhabitants, who started from nothing and whose houses have been handed down from generation to generation.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;37394&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>These villages were only connected by rail in 1870. Since then, the area has continued to attract tourists and has become so popular that a sustainable development plan has been put in place to minimize human impact on the park&#8217;s biodiversity.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;36357&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In 1960, there were up to <span class=\"nowrap\">8,000<\/span> inhabitants spread over the five villages. From Nice, the distance is around <span class=\"nowrap\">3 h 30<\/span> by road with tolls, or <span class=\"nowrap\">5 h 30<\/span> by train.<\/p>\n<p>For our part, we landed in Nice, then rented a car with my friends to the town of La Spezia.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;36333&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The Italian local train is the fastest means of locomotion, connecting every village. Use Google map: the application tells you when the train is due to arrive and which number to take. Be sure to check whether the path is open; landslides can occur with rainfall, leading to the closure of certain sections.<\/p>\n<p>Hikes can vary from about 20 minutes to several hours. We had little time on site and wanted to enjoy the most beautiful view of the sea. Our Airbnb host had left us a reference, that of Dario, Rayo Verde Tour company and we were not disappointed!<\/p>\n<p>Dario is a local who lives in one of the villages. He picked us up at the little port of Manarola.
