Four cards make up the range: a no-annual-fee credit card, a World Elite Mastercard, and two Business versions. <\/p>\n\n<p>We have gathered all available data to provide a complete overview of the new range. A Blue Rewards point is worth approximately <strong>0.67 cents<\/strong> (1,500 points = $10). <\/p>\n\n<p>The raw numbers therefore appear very different: 10 Blue Rewards points per dollar seems generous, but each point is worth much less than an AIR MILES mile. This is why you should always think in terms of <strong>yield<\/strong> (the dollar value obtained per dollar spent) rather than the number of points. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"component component__notice component__notice--info wp-block-milesgutenberg-notice\">\n\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fas fa-info-circle\"><\/i>\n\t\t<div class=\"component__notice__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"h6 component__notice__title\">\n\t\t\t\tAccumulation per dollar vs. per increment\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\n\n<p>Important change: Blue Rewards points are accumulated <strong>per dollar spent<\/strong>. With AIR MILES, earnings were done in increments of $12 (World Elite Card) or $25 (no-annual-fee card). A $23 purchase at the base rate earned 1 AIR MILES mile (10.5 cents) with the World Elite, but 23 Blue Rewards points (15.4 cents) with the new card. This change in mechanics favors small, frequent transactions and eliminates unrewarded &#8220;remainders.&#8221;   <\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-gamme-complete-quatre-cartes-recompenses-bleu\">The complete range: four Blue Rewards cards<\/h2>\n\n<p>BMO is offering four cards in its new range. Here are the known accumulation rates for each, followed by their actual yield compared to the AIR MILES versions they will replace. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bmo-recompenses-bleu-mastercard-sans-frais-annuels\">BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard (No Annual Fee)<\/h3>\n\n<p>The entry-level card, <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/no-fee\/\">with no annual fee<\/a>. On the other hand, everyday purchases (groceries, base rate) earn slightly less. The notable exception: gas and electric vehicle charging increase from 0.42% to 0.67%, as this category did not benefit from the accelerated rate on the no-fee AIR MILES card.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bmo-recompenses-bleu-world-elite-mastercard\">BMO Blue Rewards World Elite Mastercard<\/h3>\n\n<p>The premium card. Gas and electric vehicle charging also gain ground (from 0.875% to 1.34%). In contrast, groceries drop from 1.75% to 1.34%, and the base rate goes from 0.875% to 0.67%.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bmo-recompenses-bleu-world-elite-entreprise\">BMO Blue Rewards Business World Elite<\/h3>\n\n<p>The premium <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/business\/\">Business<\/a> version. The base rate also doubles, from 0.42% to 0.84%. It remains to be seen if accelerated categories (groceries, gas) will be added.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bmo-recompenses-bleu-entreprise-mastercard\">BMO Blue Rewards Business Mastercard<\/h3>\n\n<p>The Business version without World Elite status. Accelerated categories are not confirmed either. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"component component__table\"><figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-regular\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Category<\/th><th>Blue Rewards<\/th><th>Yield<\/th><th>AIR MILES Business (current)<\/th><th>Yield<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Partners<\/td><td>10 pts\/$<\/td><td>6,70&nbsp;%<\/td><td>3x \/ $25<\/td><td>1,26&nbsp;%<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Other purchases<\/td><td>1 pt\/$<\/td><td>0,67&nbsp;%<\/td><td>1x \/ $25<\/td><td>0,42&nbsp;%<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Accelerated categories<\/td><td>To be confirmed<\/td><td>\u2014<\/td><td>Variable<\/td><td>\u2014<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p>The same observation applies as for the Business World Elite: the yield at partners explodes (from 1.26% to 6.70%), and the base rate improves slightly (from 0.42% to 0.67%).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ce-qui-monte-et-ce-qui-baisse\">What&#8217;s up and what&#8217;s down<\/h2>\n\n<p>All credit cards in the range follow the same pattern: the yield at Blue Rewards partners increases significantly, while non-partner purchases decline in most categories. Here is the summary. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"component component__list checkmarks\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmarks\">\n<li><strong>Blue Rewards Partners:<\/strong> major increase across all 4 Blue Rewards credit cards. The yield doubles, triples, or even quintuples depending on the card. This is the main argument for the transition from AIR MILES to Blue Rewards.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gas and electric vehicle charging:<\/strong> improvement on all cards where this category exists. <a id=\"482385\" href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/news\/programs\/shell-scene-partnership\/\" type=\"post\">Shell is leaving the program to join Scene+<\/a>, but the enhanced rate on gas partially compensates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accumulation per dollar:<\/strong> the elimination of increments ($12 or $25) benefits small frequent expenses and reduces the actual gap between old and new yields.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"component component__list red-cross\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-red-cross\">\n<li><strong>Groceries and warehouse clubs:<\/strong> decrease on the World Elite (from 1.75% to 1.34%) and on the no-fee card (from 0.84% to 0.67%). Those who spend a lot on <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/grocery\/\">groceries<\/a> will lose out. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Base rate (all other purchases):<\/strong> decrease on all personal cards. The World Elite goes from 0.875% to 0.67%, and the no-fee card from 0.42% to 0.33%. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>25% discount on one flight per year:<\/strong> removed on the World Elite. This discount allowed for reducing the cost of an AIR MILES flight redemption. <\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-la-grande-question-quels-partenaires-a-10x\">The big question: which partners at 10x?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The yield of 6.7% (and more) at partners is the spearhead of Blue Rewards. However, this rate only applies to participating locations. <\/p>\n\n<p>For now, the list of 10x partners remains incomplete. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bmo.com\/en-ca\/main\/personal\/blue-rewards\/10x-points\/\">BMO has published a dedicated page<\/a> with the first names, but the network will need to expand for this benefit to truly matter in Canadians&#8217; wallets.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"component component__image has-text-align-center wp-block-milesgutenberg-image\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"miles_img img-large\" src=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/partenaires-recompenses-bleu-blue-rewards-partners-en-1024x465.jpg\" alt=\"Blue Rewards partners\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1012\" height=\"460\">\n\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\n<p>Note: points accumulated with the credit card are added to those obtained by presenting the Blue Rewards loyalty card in-store. The combination of both can therefore exceed the yield shown on the credit card alone. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-avantages-modifies-sur-la-world-elite\">Modified benefits on the World Elite<\/h2>\n\n<p>Beyond accumulation rates, BMO is also modifying certain benefits associated with the World Elite card.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"component component__list checkmarks\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmarks\">\n<li><strong>Free roadside assistance:<\/strong> basic coverage offered by the Dominion Automobile Association. This is an addition that did not exist on the AIR MILES card. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4 airport <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/lounges\/\">lounge<\/a> passes per year:<\/strong> via Mastercard TravelPass by <a id=\"202204\" href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/news\/airports\/mastercard-dragonpass-airport-lounges\/\" type=\"post\">DragonPass<\/a>. Membership in the TravelPass program remains included, but BMO is adding 4 free visits. <\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"component component__list red-cross\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-red-cross\">\n<li><strong>Loss of the 25% flight discount:<\/strong> the 4 lounge passes directly replace this discount. Depending on your travel habits, the trade-off may or may not be favorable. <\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<aside class=\"component component__notice component__notice--warning wp-block-milesgutenberg-notice\">\n\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fas fa-exclamation-triangle\"><\/i>\n\t\t<div class=\"component__notice__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"h6 component__notice__title\">\n\t\t\t\tFor frequent travelers\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\n\n<p>If you used the 25% discount on a flight redemption each year, calculate the value of that discount compared to 4 lounge passes. For a flight redeemed at 2,000 miles, the discount was worth about 500 miles ($52.50). The 4 lounge passes are generally worth between $120 and $200 in total depending on the network.  <\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pour-qui-la-transition-est-elle-positive\">For whom is the transition positive?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The answer depends on your habits. Here are some typical profiles. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>You often shop at Blue Rewards partners<\/strong> (and the list of partners is quite long): the transition clearly benefits you. The yield is 2 to 5 times higher, depending on the card. <\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>The bulk of your spending goes toward <\/strong><strong>groceries and everyday purchases<\/strong>: you will lose a bit of yield.<\/span> The decrease is moderate (around 0.2% to 0.4% depending on the card), but it is real.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>You spend a lot on gas or electric vehicle charging<\/strong>: the new accelerated category on the World Elite (2 pts\/$) improves the yield from 0.875% to 1.34%. A welcome gain, especially after the loss of Shell as a partner. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>You use a Business card<\/strong>: base rates improve (0.42% \u2192 0.67-0.84%), and the yield at partners jumps.
