My first visit to Peru<\/a> began in Lima, with a stay at the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a>, a hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy program. As I was already familiar with the hotel brand, it made my arrival in a new country much easier.<\/p>\n

The price of a basic room at the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a> ranges from 100 to 170 USD per night, depending on seasonality. In points, expect to pay between 15,000 and 22,000 points per night.<\/p>\n

I took advantage of the Marriott Bonvoy spring promotion<\/a> to get double Elite nights on my reservation. To do this, the stay had to be paid for in cash, not points. It’s a strategy that’s definitely worthwhile when you’re trying to reach a high status like Platinum or Titanium, which require a large number of Elite nights (50 and 75, respectively).<\/p>\n

Location is definitely one of the biggest advantages of the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a>. The hotel is located in the heart of the Miraflores district. The 45-minute to 1-hour ride from Lima’s international airport to the hotel cost me between 25 and 30 CAD with Uber.<\/p>\n

Although I preferred the seafront location of the AC Hotel Lima Miraflores<\/a> (and the neighboring JW Marriott Hotel Lima<\/a> ), I must say that the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a> had the advantage of being better surrounded by excellent restaurants within walking distance.<\/p>\n

Check-in went smoothly and there were no unnecessary extras; I was given a coupon to use for a welcome cocktail – a Pisco Sour – and informed that breakfast was not included in my package. At a price of 12 USD, I decided to give it a try.<\/p>\n

You can see that the hotel, opened in 2015 and recently renovated, is still very modern. Since I was planning to spend a few days working remotely, the desk was definitely appreciated.<\/p>\n

The room was also equipped with a mini-refrigerator, coffee machine with pods, and all the essentials for a comfortable stay.<\/p>\n

The food offered at breakfast was varied and well-balanced. I liked the healthier options like grilled vegetables, and the more gourmet options like pastries, the waffle station and the hot buffet (eggs, bacon and more).<\/p>\n

Some of the dishes were different from day to day, with ceviche offered one day as well as other typical Peruvian dishes.<\/p>\n

Out of laziness and convenience, I ate once at the hotel’s restaurant, Bistro 400. I don’t particularly recommend this option, not because the food was bad, but rather because Lima is renowned for its gastronomy and it will only take you a few steps to find delicious and affordable restaurants to eat at.<\/p>\n

A small outdoor terrace is also available.<\/p>\n

Located on the 11th floor, the gym had everything you need to stay in shape on the move, and its glass wall made for a pleasant experience. The room wasn’t very large; there were four of us to occupy the space without feeling too cramped, but more people could have caused an inconvenience.<\/p>\n

It’s a 20-minute walk to the seafront. Two grocery stores are very close to the hotel, and a host of excellent restaurants are within walking distance. The neighborhood is the ideal place to spend time in local caf\u00e9s, buy handcrafted souvenirs and stroll along the seafront promenade or to Kennedy Park, just a few minutes away.<\/p>\n

As Lima is recognized as the culinary capital of South America (and one of the best cities in the world in which to eat), I recommend preparing a list of restaurants to visit during your stay, and reserve the most popular ones in advance. Also, take the time to visit the charming Barranco district, just a short Uber ride from the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a>, where many of these popular restaurants are located.<\/p>\n

My stay at the Courtyard Lima Miraflores<\/a> was a pleasant one. The hotel is modern and in keeping with the Courtyard brand, offering all the essentials for a comfortable stay without the superfluous. For me, it was the perfect accommodation to spend my time exploring Lima without feeling out of place when I arrived in Peru, and also a reliable place to work remotely, all at a reasonable price.<\/p>\n
