La<\/strong> Maison de l’\u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans<\/strong> reinvents the bed and breakfast<\/em> concept as a bed and brunch<\/em>. Their motto: Every day Sunday. It is the winner of the 2022 Guest House of the Year at Quebec, awarded by the Travel & Hospitality Awards<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Here, relaxation is the order of the day. Discover this guesthouse that offers two rooms of superior comfort and a four-course gourmet brunch in the morning. In the midst of preparations for the next season, the hosts invited Milesopedia to discover and test the new menu.<\/p>\n

The rate includes the room and the next day’s brunch for two people.<\/p>\n

The guest house has two rooms on the first floor. Both are identical and offer a magnificent view of the river.<\/p>\n

The queen bed has an adjustable mechanized headboard. The memory foam mattress is extremely comfortable, guaranteeing a good night’s sleep.<\/p>\n

Each room has a private bathroom of remarkable size for a bed and breakfast<\/em>. The large glass shower is equipped with a rain head.<\/p>\n

Toilet essentials are all provided: hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel and a small vanity kit.<\/p>\n

The highlight of this guesthouse is its four-course gourmet brunch. The owners drew inspiration for their concept from the breakfasts served in France’s leading Relais & Ch\u00e2teaux inns.<\/p>\n

Yves Blanchette, chef and co-owner, takes great pleasure in cooking with local produce from \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans. Working in partnership with a host of local farms and producers, the vast majority of ingredients used in his dishes are sourced on the island. <\/p>\n

The menu consists of two appetizers, a main egg dish and a dessert.<\/p>\n

All accompanied by a non-alcoholic cocktail and your choice of hot beverage (coffee, hot chocolate, tea, etc.).<\/p>\n

Each plate is presented, served, and explained with care.<\/p>\n

The menu changes according to the chef’s whims. His repertoire consists of more than 40 different dishes and you can specify your food preferences. Please note that there are no vegetarian or vegan options.<\/p>\n

For my part, I sampled the Mimosa quail eggs, a yellow beet carpaccio with salmon gravlax, a soft-boiled egg on broccoli emulsion and a chiboust cream with strawberry jam. The mocktail served was a sparkling strawberry and mint drink. <\/p>\n

It’s a single hearty dish, also served with a non-alcoholic cocktail and a hot drink.<\/p>\n

I tried the smoked salmon bagel and the Mec Muffin<\/em>, a classic breakfast sandwich revisited. The whole thing was absolutely delicious.<\/p>\n

La Maison de l’\u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans<\/strong> features a heated saltwater pool. It is the only lodging on the island with a swimming pool.<\/p>\n

The establishment is located in the village of Saint-Jean-de-l’\u00cele-d’Orl\u00e9ans, some 20 minutes from the bridge linking Quebec to the island. The St. Lawrence River is just a stone’s throw from the door. <\/p>\n

Parking is free.<\/p>\n

The location is ideal for a walk in the village and watching the impressive liners sailing on the river.<\/p>\n

Open in summer, the Route du Mitan crosses from north to south. Otherwise, the Royal Road is the road that goes around the whole \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n

The owners, Sylvie Lavoie and Yves Blanchette, are extremely kind and will do everything they can to ensure your stay lives up to your expectations. Their bed and brunch<\/em> is a warm house with hotel-like comfort.<\/p>\n

I strongly recommend that you stay there for one night en route for a longer roadtrip or for a weekend getaway.<\/p>\n

The gastronomic lunch is gourmet, well thought out and will satisfy your hunger until the afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans is a popular summer destination for agrotourism. Visitors come for the quiet countryside and the abundance of local producers. It’s a food-lover’s paradise, and I came away inspired (and with a car boot full of local ingredients!). <\/p>\n

The ride around the island can be done by car or by bike. The road is dotted with farms and establishments where you can taste and buy products at the source.<\/p>\n

During my stay, I visited a blackcurrant producer<\/a>, a microbrewery<\/a> and a poultry farm<\/a>. I am already looking forward to my visit this summer to see everything \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans has to offer.<\/p>\n
