Like all my hotel reservations in Qatar during the World Cup, I booked my stay at the last minute (1 day before arrival).<\/p>\n

I was lucky to get a night at Le Royal Meridien Doha<\/a> for only 20,000 Marriott Bonvoy points when the room cost was approaching CAD 900 per night due to the World Cup!<\/p>\n

So naturally, I opted to use my Marriott Bonvoy points for this one-night stay.<\/p>\n

For the record, this hotel hosted the Swiss national soccer team and its entire delegation. Unfortunately, Portugal eliminated this team in the 1\/8th finals two days before my arrival in an incredible match that I was lucky enough to attend.<\/p>\n

This might explain why the hotel ended up with many available rooms! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
