We encourage you to <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/news\/programs\/aeroplan-conditions-usage\/#bonis_vers_s_avec_les_cartes_de_cr_dit_co-marqu_es_a_roplan\">review the terms and conditions<\/a> prior to applying for an <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/offers\/best-aeroplan-cards\/\">Aeroplan co-branded credit card<\/a> to ensure that you are in compliance with the program terms and conditions.  <\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_message][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The Aeroplan program has updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aircanada.com\/ca\/en\/aco\/home\/aeroplan\/legal\/terms-and-conditions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its terms and conditions<\/a> to clarify certain points. An update had already gone into effect on <strong>December 19, 2022<\/strong>, with the aim of preventing abuses, particularly those linked to Aeroplan credit card <em>churning<\/em> (multiplication of credit cards).<\/p>\n<p>For new Aeroplan members, the conditions have been in effect since the update was announced on November 29, 2023. For the remaining members, these conditions have been in force <strong>since February 5, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The sections containing revisions that are effective as of February 2024 deal with the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of Aeroplan accounts per person<\/li>\n<li>Family sharing<\/li>\n<li>The consequences of an inactive account<\/li>\n<li>Bonuses paid with Aeroplan co-branded credit cards<\/li>\n<li>The use of scripts, macros or automation for the Aeroplan program<\/li>\n<li>Aeroplan&#8217;s right to verify Aeroplan Members&#8217; accounts at any time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In short, there&#8217;s nothing new, but Aeroplan is clarifying some points that have been in a gray area, since the terms and conditions of its program were updated in December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re thinking specifically of Aeroplan point bonuses earned with an <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/aeroplan\/\">Aeroplan credit card<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that you follow these rules carefully, because from what we&#8217;ve seen, Aeroplan doesn&#8217;t seem to make any compromises.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_message]<\/p>\n<p>Please note: To help you understand how to use the Aeroplan program, the changes made in December 2022 are still indicated at the bottom of this article.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_message][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Aeroplan terms and conditions updates: February 2024&#8243; el_id=&#8221;aeroplan_terms_and_conditions_updates_february_2024&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Prohibition on registering more than one Aeroplan account for the same person&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;prohibition_on_registering_more_than_one_aeroplan_account_for_the_same_person&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Aeroplan now clarifies that each person wishing to join the Aeroplan Program may do so only once, using their full legal name as shown on their passport or government-issued identification. It is therefore forbidden to create more than one account for the same person using a different e-mail address.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Any attempt by an individual to register more than one Account by using the same or multiple different email addresses, identities, registrations, logins, or any other method(s), may void all Aeroplan Points that have been awarded or scheduled to be awarded to that Member, and that Member maybe disqualified from participating in the Aeroplan Program or any aspect thereof.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Section 2 of the Aeroplan Terms and Conditions<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Family sharing&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;family_sharing&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In section 7, Aeroplan specifies that any suspicion of fraudulent activity may lead to the suspension or termination of the joint account and its related accounts. We recall that the creation of new <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/news\/programs\/family-sharing-aeroplan-suspension\/\">family sharing accounts was recently suspended<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If we suspect any untruthful, fraudulent or illicit activity related to a Pool or a Family Member in the Pool in any way, we may, at our sole discretion, in addition to all other rights and remedies available to us, temporarily or permanently prohibit any or all Family Members from participating in a Pool or from accumulating or redeeming Aeroplan Points, or we may suspend or terminate the Pool, any or all of the associated Aeroplan Memberships and close any or all of the associated Accounts.<\/p>\n<pre>Section 7 des conditions d'A\u00e9roplan<\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Closing inactive accounts&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;closing_inactive_accounts&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Under Section 8 of the Terms and Conditions, an Aeroplan account is considered inactive if no points have been earned or redeemed for 18 consecutive months. Secondly, the account could be terminated after five consecutive years of inactivity. Effective from February 5, 2024, the account may now be terminated after <strong>three consecutive years of inactivity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to avoid having your account become inactive simply by <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/tutorials\/air-canada-aeroplan-family-sharing\/\">redeeming points with your family share<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/tutorials\/liste-principaux-programmes-transfert-points-canada\/\">transferring points from another loyalty program to Aeroplan<\/a>, charging an <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/aeroplan\/\">Aeroplan credit card<\/a>, or using <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/tutorials\/how-estore-aeroplan-works\/\">the eStore<\/a> to earn a minimum of one Aeroplan point.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Aeroplan co-branded credit cards bonuses&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;aeroplan_co-branded_credit_cards_bonuses&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Section 10 reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The New Card Bonus offered to a Member to become an Aeroplan Credit Cardmember is intended to encourage that Member to become an Aeroplan Credit Cardmember when <b>he or she does not already hold, or did not previously hold<\/b>, the type of Aeroplan Credit Card, regardless of issuer (e.g., Basic, Primary, Reserve, Small Business Primary, Small Business Reserve, or any other card offering a substantially similar level of benefits) for which the New Card Bonus is offered. font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;using_aeroplan_with_scripts_macros_and_automations&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Here is a summary of the changes to Section 11, as communicated by Aeroplan via email:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We have added some terms that prohibit the participation in our program via script, macro or other automated means. We have clarified some terms regarding our handling of prohibited activity or suspected prohibited activity in the program, including that we have the right to audit Members\u2019 Accounts at any time and without notice to verify compliance with our Terms and Conditions. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>As we know, Aeroplan now prevents programs like <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/go\/point-me\/\">Points.me<\/a> from accessing their database to display information related to Aeroplan award flights.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Aeroplan terms and conditions updates: December 2022&#8243; el_id=&#8221;aeroplan_terms_and_conditions_updates_december_2022&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The points earned by a member remain for the member&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;the_points_earned_by_a_member_remain_for_the_member&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>When an Aeroplan member makes a transaction with an Aeroplan partner, every effort will be made to ensure that the cardholder receives the points <strong>in their own Aeroplan account<\/strong>. It may be a transaction on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/?p=209986\">Aeroplan eStore<\/a> for example.<\/p>\n<p>Or that the Aeroplan points of the Aeroplan credit card holder are credited to their own Aeroplan account. This is to prevent them from being transferred directly to the account of a spouse, relative or friend.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Aeroplan specifies that the conversion of points from another loyalty program must be remitted to the same Aeroplan member.
