It&#8217;s my favourite thing to do when I go on an adventure!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;172963&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The equipment&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;the_equipment&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The first thing to do is get to know your device, be it an iPhone or a camera. Then, don&#8217;t get bogged down with gadgets and are able to master what you have in order to create beautiful travel photos.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>What I usually put in my bag:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canon 6D camera<\/li>\n<li>wide-angle lens (17-40 mm f\/4)<\/li>\n<li>telephoto lens (24-105 mm f\/4)<\/li>\n<li>Gorillapod tripod<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/strategy\/maximize-buy-new-iphone\/\">iPhone 13 Pro<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The holiday season is upon us! The only difference is in the quality of certain exposure techniques. The <em>wow<\/em> factor is mainly found in the photographic composition of the image.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_message][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>This picture was taken with an iPhone 5: the image quality is not as good as on a newer phone or a real camera, but the principles of image creation are the same.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;84889&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Photography equipment can be very expensive, so make sure you have <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/personal-finance\/insurance\/cheap-home-insurance-rates-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">home insurance<\/a> that covers your belongings even while travelling. On my side, I pay extra to insure my camera and lenses when they&#8217;re not at home.<\/p>\n<p>And don&#8217;t forget the cell phone, which is often worth more than $1,000 these days! So, you need to do your research ahead of time so that you don&#8217;t miss the best moments for travel photos.<\/p>\n<p>For example, during my trip to <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/destination\/trave-guide-cappadocia-hot-air-balloons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cappadocia<\/a>, I found out where the hot air balloons were taking off so I could be there at the right time! During this time, it&#8217;s possible to create almost any image from any angle since the light is softer. Plus, there are very few people!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;189468&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The world belongs to those who wake early.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>And of course, the first rays of sunlight often give a magical effect to the images.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;164678&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The rules of composition&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;the_rules_of_composition&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The main goal to keep in mind when trying to compose a beautiful photo is to tell a story.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The rule of thirds and its variants&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;the_rule_of_thirds_and_its_variants&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>This strategy places the main subject in a third of the image as opposed to centring it.<\/p>\n<p>Then the secondary subject, if any, is put in a different third of the landscape. This facilitates the visual <em>flow<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A third of a photo is defined as being along these lines or at one of their intersections.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;204988&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>I usually follow this rule, but often I mix things up!<\/p>\n<p>So how do you know what to do in different situations? The answer is simple: experiment with trial and error to determine how to compose the photo according to the context. When in doubt, take a centred and a third shot!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;205000&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Add different elements to your image&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;add_different_elements_to_your_image&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>When we lift the camera to take a picture, it is often because we have seen one or more things that have captured our attention.<\/p>\n<p>Including a foreground element halfway through the image and in the background is a good recipe for an interesting scene.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;204990&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>For example, if the subject of the photo is a mountain, I try to insert a river or animals in the foreground. In doing so, these components help deepen the image, give a 3-dimensional feel, and help establish perspective.<\/p>\n<p>In front of this type of photo, the eyes will be able to travel through the image; the eye will unconsciously wander over the picture as it tells a story.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;204994&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Include people in photos&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;include_people_in_photos&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel photography<\/strong> is usually focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/beautiful-landscapes-points\/\">beautiful landscapes<\/a>. However, having people as subjects in a photo makes it seem more personal.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>People commonly say that photos make them &#8220;dream&#8221;; the same way they would if they were there! This effect is often created when there is a person and when they are anonymous; not seeing the subject&#8217;s face makes it easier to put yourself in the image.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;189532&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The human element also gives a perspective of grandeur.
