For example, American Express has gradually <strong>relev\u00e9 <\/strong> or expanded the thresholds for earning welcome bonuses from the&nbsp;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/credit-cards\/american-express-aeroplan-reserve-card\/\">American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup>* Aeroplan<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Reserve Card<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/credit-cards\/the-platinum-card\/\">Platinum Card<sup>&reg;<\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/credit-cards\/american-express-gold-rewards-card\/\">American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Gold Rewards Card<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even though the &#8220;<strong>lifetime bonus<\/strong>&#8221; rule had been put in place in 2015 by American Express, it was never likely to be implemented until 2020. At that point, American Express&#8217; actions were drastic. It unilaterally closed without notice all the accounts it considered to have abused this rule. They no longer hesitate to refuse a person if too many requests have been made on the credit report in the last few months<\/li>\n<li>NBC \/ HSBC \/ Scotia \/ TD banks are very vigilant about income requirements ($60,000 and over) to issue a card. <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/criteres-souscription-carte-credit-scotia\">See the conditions imposed by Scotiabank as an example<\/a>. In addition, there are also ways specifically for <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/strategy\/strategies-earn-cash-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">credit cards that earn cash back<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;61857&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, American Express <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/news\/prepaid-gift-cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has put a stop in 2019<\/a> on other means used such as prepaid gift cards that are &#8220;cash equivalents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Do not confuse the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prepaid Vanilla gift cards<\/strong> (which can be used as &#8220;cash equivalents&#8221; and which we do not recommend)<\/li>\n<li>with <strong>store gift cards<\/strong> (like SAQ, Home Depot&#8230;) which are restricted to the banner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this case, moderation is much better. Rather than racing to unlock your bonuses through this method, <strong>take your time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, it&#8217;s not optimal to sign up for two credit cards simultaneously, each asking you to spend $3,000 in 3 months, and then not be able to reach that level of spending. Therefore, it would be wiser to apply for to only one card in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Take&#8230;. your&#8230;. time, like in a marathon!<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Abusive behaviour and red flags&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;&#8221; el_id=&#8221;abusive_behaviour_and_red_flags&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;checkmarks&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to eliminate any behaviour that appears abusive to an issuer, avoid:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Declare an annual income of $40,000 and make $10,000 in monthly purchases on your card<\/li>\n<li>Buying stuff every day at the same store with the same purchase amount (gift cards, anyone?)<\/li>\n<li>Calling the credit card issuer to find out when your bonus will be received<\/li>\n<li>Keeping a card open for 3 months, getting its bonus, and closing the card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Indeed, the last thing you want is to receive a call from the card issuer fraud department!<\/p>\n<p>So if you know you&#8217;re in the wrong&#8230; you don&#8217;t call a credit card company: <strong>you keep a low profile<\/strong>.
