[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”checkmarks”]This trip of barely a week to India was planned somewhat unexpectedly, in order to surprise my parents in Mumbai at the end of their cruise that had left Sydney a month earlier.<\/p>\n

And as long as I had to go as far as India, I took advantage of Aeroplan’s multidestination options<\/a> to make a 2-day stopover in New Delhi, a 24-hour stopover in Udaipur before finishing with 2 days in Mumbai. Air Canada now offers a non-stop flight between Montreal and New Delhi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is located about half an hour from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).<\/p>\n

The Indira Gandhi National Arts center, the National Museum, the Gateway of India, the magnificent Akshardham Temple, the Red Fort and many other points of interest can be found nearby.<\/p>\n

The hotel has 7 room types and I had a 1 bedroom, 1 king bed Executive Suite. The 64 m\u00b2 suite includes a lounge, a bedroom and a bathroom.<\/p>\n

The Suite is very classy and cool. With two bathrooms and a lounge that is separate from the bedroom, it is easy to receive guests or to lounge around while your travel partner snoozes in the bedroom section, for example.<\/p>\n

The ivory white look that dominates the Suite, the materials and the modern furniture, the large curved windows in the room, the clawfoot bath near the window: everything confers great class and a luxurious feel.<\/p>\n

It’s a pity that I only spent one night there because of my tight schedule, because I would have liked to stay a day or two longer.<\/p>\n

Breakfast options were plentiful at The One restaurant on the ground floor and I was able to get my fill of the day’s exploration in Delhi.<\/p>\n

The hotel has no less than 5 restaurants<\/a> in addition to its Club (reserved for Bonvoy Platinum members and above<\/a>), so there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Thanks to my Marriott Bonvoy Elite Titanium status<\/a>, I was able to access the Executive lounge located on the 19th<\/sup> floor and suspended above the hotel’s imposing atrium. It is accessed by a footbridge, giving it a very “VIP” style.<\/p>\n

The Club is only open in the early evening for a cocktail party. The food offering is limited while the alcoholic options are more plentiful.<\/p>\n

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness room and a spa offering massage and treatment services. I also had the opportunity to enjoy the steam room and the sauna.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed my (too) short stay at Le Meridien New Delhi. The staff were very friendly and the service is very comprehensive, especially with the 5 restaurants on site.<\/p>\n

The 358-room hotel complex is imposing and the atrium, with its four glass elevators that go back and forth between the 19 floors, is impressive.<\/p>\n

The Suite is very comfortable and I liked that it is located in the curved section of the hotel which allows for a more panoramic view. You can enjoy these little luxuries that give it a “je ne sais quoi” especially when you are on holiday.<\/p>\n

And on a more personal note, I loved my time in Delhi. If some people are afraid to venture out, you should know that I walked alone in the city, either on foot, by subway or by tuk-tuk for more than 12 hours.<\/p>\n

Certainly the tourists are solicited, however people are cordial and polite. They don’t press. I always felt safe and welcome when visiting the main sites and in the restaurants.<\/p>\n

And Le M\u00e9ridien New Delhi is really well located, allowing me to take in the sights of this city that I discovered with surprise and love.<\/p>\n
