[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”checkmarks”]Here is a review of my stay at the Marriott Ch\u00e2teau Champlain in Montreal<\/a> following its rejuvenation.<\/p>\n

This report was done thanks to an invitation from the hotel’s team. This Marriott Bonvoy<\/a> hotel, located in downtown Montreal, has undergone a major transformation and completed its major renovations in 2021. Gone are the heavy dark woodwork, draperies and rugs. Everything is now bright and contemporary.<\/p>\n

The 38-storey, 614-room building has retained its distinctive exterior architecture, with its half-moon shaped windows. The building, nicknamed the “cheese grater” has undergone a complete overhaul of its interior style. It has now become elegant and warm.<\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158354″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Sid Lee Architecture<\/a> was in charge of the renovation project. Inspired by the hotel’s history and the desire to recall its Montreal environment, the chosen theme was “winter refuge”.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158326″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]It can be strange to talk about winter and to have a “warm” decor. But the challenge was brilliantly conquered. You feel cozy and protected as soon as you enter the hotel. The decor’s organic shapes and the use of wood and stone are comforting when you enter the Montreal Marriott Ch\u00e2teau Champlain<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158330″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]The vaulted ceiling of the lobby is a nod to the architecture of Windsor Station across the street. The ceiling lights are reminiscent of winter clouds. The light bulbs evoke snowballs. When you check in at the reception desk, you’ll notice the mural, a reminder of the snow banks or the St. Lawrence’s waves.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158328″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]In collaboration with MassivArt of Montreal<\/a>, 59 works of art are and will be displayed throughout the hotel. For example, a work by Sabrina Ratt\u00e9<\/a> will soon be installed. It will be projected on the wall of the staircase and will “move” interactively.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158336″ img_size=”large”][vc_custom_heading text=”Location” google_fonts=”” el_id=”location”][vc_column_text]The Montreal Marriott Ch\u00e2teau Champlain<\/a> is located on De La Gaucheti\u00e8re Street, between de la Cath\u00e9drale and Peel streets. It’s right next to Canada Place.<\/p>\n

The building to the east of the hotel is 1,000 de la Gaucheti\u00e8re, which houses offices and shops, but also an indoor skating rink that is open year-round.<\/p>\n

On the west side is Windsor Station. The Bell center is located nearby, a 300 metre walk<\/strong> from the Marriott entrance.<\/p>\n

The Ch\u00e2teau Champlain is also accessible through Montreal’s underground network<\/a>. Rain or shine, you can move around the 32 kilometres of tunnels without going outside.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158196″ img_size=”large”]\n

Checking in was done efficiently and quickly. I was given the cards to open the room door, but I could have also taken the Mobile Key,<\/a> whichy you get with the Marriott Bonvoy app.<\/p>\n

After recognizing my status, I was told about the benefits of being a Platinum member and that I had access to the MClub lounge.<\/p>\n

On the ground floor level, there are 3 touch screens for customers. They house interactive maps of the surrounding area, things to do in Montreal in the next few days, weather and flight information forMontreal-Trudeau International Airport<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”158352″ img_size=”large”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”The room” google_fonts=”” el_id=”the_room”][vc_column_text]I had a room with 2 double beds, overlooking the city, on the 29th floor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The room was right across from the elevators. I usually shun this location because it can be very noisy due to other customers coming and going. But surprisingly, I heard absolutely nothing the entire stay and the soundproofing was excellent.<\/p>\n

The room number was 2903.<\/p>\n

The natural light from the huge window illuminates the whole room.
