The women on site show us how they used different products and get us involved.<\/p>\n<p>Excellent opportunity to take a culture bath and ask all our questions.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73601&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Musandam Peninsula&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;musandam_peninsula&#8221;][vc_column_text]This peninsula in the northeast of the country also called <strong> the little Norway of Arabia <\/strong> because of its fjords is a real delight for the eyes.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<strong>Crystalline water<\/strong>, high sand-coloured rocky mountains, vertiginous serpentine roads, vintage boats and diverse marine fauna; this is what awaits you in this little corner of paradise.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Take the opportunity to make the <strong>scuba diving<\/strong>, you won&#8217;t be disappointed.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73593&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Excursion in a traditional Dhow boat&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h4|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;excursion_in_a_traditional_dhow_boat&#8221;][vc_column_text]Several options are proposed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>one-day tour,<\/li>\n<li>fishing trip,<\/li>\n<li>2 days and one night on the boat, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73591&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][vc_column_text]Personally, <strong>we chose to sleep on the boat<\/strong>. Even though we had trouble sleeping, we would make the same choice again. Sleeping under the stars on the water was a great experience.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73573&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][vc_column_text]You will certainly have the opportunity to see dolphins, swim, fish and enjoy an excellent typical meal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This was my favorite activity on the peninsula<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Mountain Safari&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h4|text_align:left&#8221; el_id=&#8221;mountain_safari&#8221;][vc_column_text]This excursion is rather <strong>a 4&#215;4 tour in the mountains<\/strong> to enjoy the beautiful views, but does not include animals. We have chosen to make this trip on our own by renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>You have to be comfortable driving on winding, even bumpy, rocky roads. However, some views impressed us like the one of the <strong>Khor (fjord) An-Njad<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73589&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][vc_column_text]We also went through the small forest <strong>Khalidiya<\/strong>, the only green land we saw on the rocky peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, it was interesting to look for the petroglyphs visible on <strong>the rocks of the village of Tawj<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73633&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;My advice for a successful trip to Oman&#8221; el_id=&#8221;my_advice_for_a_successful_trip_to_oman&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For Canadians, <strong>an entry visa is required<\/strong>. It&#8217;s easy to do it over the internet. Choose the site that links to the Government of Canada&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/voyage.gc.ca\/destinations\/oman\">Oman page.<\/a> Only really reliable link in my opinion.<\/li>\n<li>Public transport is not very developed, even for tour operators. You will need to rent a car to visit the country. In this regard, several global companies are established in Muscat. However, on the Musandam peninsula, you will have no choice but to rent with a Mohamed rent-a-car company.<\/li>\n<li>Roads are excellent in Oman and it is tempting to drive fast, but beware, there are photo radars everywhere.<\/li>\n<li>It will be recommended that you rent a 4&#215;4. In my opinion, only the desert part of Sharqiya sands and the Musandam really requires one, although it was practical in the Jebel Shams canyon.<\/li>\n<li>To get to the Musandam peninsula, there are affordable internal flights that last one hour.<strong> I recommend this option rather than driving<\/strong>, as you will then have to pass through the UAE, drive about 20 hours, and apply for a multi-entry visa for Oman.<\/li>\n<li>For accommodation, there are hotels in major cities, but they are still few in number. You&#8217;ll find some nice Airbnb, though.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_message color=&#8221;success&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;success&#8221; icon_fontawesome=&#8221;fas fa-check&#8221;]If you want to save money on Airbnb thanks to points, <a href=\"https:\/\/milesopedia.com\/en\/guide\/strategy\/save-money-airbnb\/\">see this strategy<\/a> ![\/vc_message][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oman is a Muslim country with <strong>very strict morals<\/strong> towards their people. That is part of the reason why the country is so safe. People are law-abiding. They are very tolerant towards foreigners and will not stare at you like a fairground phenomenon unlike some other countries. However, one must be respectful in return by covering one&#8217;s shoulders and knees.<\/li>\n<li>In the same line of thought, swimming is done with a water sweater (<strong>rashguard<\/strong>) and surf shorts. <strong>Save yourself in a bikini.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For swimming in the wadi, but especially for exploring them, I suggest you bring <strong>water shoes<\/strong> or boat shoes as the bottom is made of rock.<\/li>\n<li>Communication and wifi component: it was practically impossible for us to connect to wifi besides the hotel&#8217;s, as they require a password to be sent by text message or email. So I suggest you take a card  SIM (available at the airport) and a small inexpensive package.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;73619&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow&#8221;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Books on Oman&#8221; el_id=&#8221;books_on_oman&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The card  of Oman available in <strong>Maps.me<\/strong> is very useful and complete, indicating moreover the paths, the water points and I even saw <strong>a beach &#8220;ideal for women because very private&#8221;.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Finally, Explorer&#8217;s book <em>Oman off-road<\/em> is very handy for driving and route planning.
