Marriott Bonvoy: Stay 5 nights for the price of 4 using Marriott Bonvoy points

To the point The Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program allows you to stay 5 nights for the price of 4 when you book a room with points.

Séjournez 5 nuits au prix de 4 avec Marriott Bonvoy

We regularly mention this advantage in our Facebook community. However, there are a number of rules to be respected in order to obtain a 5-night stay for the price of 4.

A reservation paid for entirely with points

To get a 5-night stay for the price of 4, you must have paid in full with Marriott Bonvoy points.

So you can’t get a 5 night stay for the price of 4:

5 nuits consécutives dans le même hôtel

To get a 5-night stay for the price of 4, you must make a reservation for 5 consecutive nights at the same hotel.

This use is therefore preferable in destinations where your hotel will serve as your “base camp” for 5-6 days! For example, to a seaside resort or a metropolitan area like Tokyo to explore the region!

All hotels are accessible

Unlike the previous Marriott Bonvoy program, which did not offer a 5-night stay for the price of 4 in certain hotel categories, the Marriott Bonvoy program makes this benefit available in all types of hotels!

So you can get a 5-night stay for the price of 4 at any of the 7,000+ hotels in the Marriott Bonvoy group, regardless of the sub-chain, even at a Palace!

Get a 5-night stay for the price of 4, and you’ll save approximately 20% in points on your entire reservation!

Marriott hotels are an ideal choice for both budget and luxury travellers. Indeed, with thousands of establishments worldwide, you can use as few as 5,000 points per night in places such as Bali or South Africa or over 100,000 to treat yourself to a sumptuous night in the famous Emirates Suite at Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai.

Here’s an example of a stay at a luxury hotel in the Maldives, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, where we were able to pay for 4 nights instead of 5.

Accumulating Marriott Bonvoy points as a couple

The Marriott Bonvoy program allows you to transfer up to 100,000 points per year from one account to another, free of charge. It’s a great way for spouses or friends to earn points toward one or more reservations!

Via American Express Marriott Bonvoy cards

By simply taking out a Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card each, spouses can earn 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.

And if you want to boost your Marriott Bonvoy points balance, the Business version(also available to individuals), the Marriott BonvoyMD Business American Express®* Card ExpressMD also offers 50,000 points!

In a couple where each spouse takes out both Bonvoy cards, that’s over 200,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, easy to earn over the course of a year, for a total of $540 in annual fees. Enough to ensure at least 2 weeks of hotel accommodation a year!

What’s more, each year you’ll get four free night certificates.

Via American Express Membership Rewards cards

Marriott Bonvoy points can also be earned on American Express Membership Rewards cards.

The transfer is made at a rate of 5:6, i.e. 50,000 Membership Rewards points correspond to 60,000 Marriott points.

The most attractive card is the American Express Cobalt® Card, notably because of its earning rate in grocery/convenience stores (think gift cards) and restaurants: 5 Membership Rewards points/dollar. If your goal is to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, that’s the equivalent of 6 Marriott Bonvoy points/dollar!

You’ll find links to these cards at the end of the article.

Bottom Line

Staying 5 nights for the price of 4 with Marriott Bonvoy points is a great way to use your Marriott Bonvoy points while saving nearly 20% in points!
